Ok, I love the DAO-12. A short description is: A very powerful shotgun, that is very effective at close range. It has twelve shots, and I love it. Thats why I love why they gave it to the Anti-Tank.
I don't see a enemy in sight, I start to reload, and then a guy pops out, and starts shooting me. After putting in a few bullets, I should start shooting, correct? Instead, I have to wait 7.5 seconds, until it finishes reloading. Isn't that unfair?
Same for the other shotgun.

What you can do is take out your pistol for about a second then quickly switch back to the DAO, and it will look like the gun is reloading, but it isn't, and fire away.

But thats not the point. You should be able to fire after you get a few shells into your shotgun. I usually put in four. And clean out the place. You shouldnt have to change weapons. All you have to do is to hit the fire key.

I think the reason they have it like this with the DAO-12 is something to do with the way it is cocked - The weapon in the game has a winding key on the front of the cylinder which cocks the weapon by rotating the cylinder to the firing position. The system doesn't like having empty chambers in the cylinder so this is probably why you have to load the full thing before winding the mechanism and firing.

DICE have actually named the DAO-12 'Protecta' in the game files, this is it's actual name in real life (I guess they couldn't get permission to call it Protecta in game) The Protecta is actually an updated version of the gun we know as the DAO-12, which is actually a 'Striker'. The Striker is the original version of this weapon with the 'Protecta' being an updated version that uses a manually rotating cylinder which is cocked by pulling back the front handgrip.

The name DAO-12 comes from the term 'Double Action Only', this is a system similar to that used in revolvers. It also refers to the 12 gauge shells that the weapon fires (or possibly the 12" length of the barrel)

Yes, it is 12" long. I Love it because I am a fan of revolvers. I just like the look too, and the strength.

I am too lazy to hit the 1/2/3/4 keys. I use my mouse scroll, but sometimes I scroll to far.

If you get a G5 from Logitech, you can program your scroll left/right for your main gun and something else.  I like medic so I use it for my machine gun and my paddles.

Sorry, I forgot we were talking about the DAO.  No HAXING here......I earned every one of my meager points....and all of my purple hearts thank you very much.
