My VOIP is down, I have NO idea why. The first problem that led to this occurred recently after the patch update, the game kept freezing as I tried to load it. I searched online and someone said "If you remove the beginning movies, you can get on" so I was like "Hey why not". I did this, and everything seemed fine, until very recently after I realized nobody could hear me and I could hear no one. To fix this is de-accelerated all of the sound drivers I could find, I switched headsets to microphones to headphones to speakers, I tried every option I could in the BF2 settings, I tried everything I could think of in the control panel, and I even reinstalled BF2 along with my account. Now, some of the BOX admin told me it was their server glitching, but I tried this is another random game unrelated to box and this happened. Is anyone experiencing what I'm experiencing, is it maybe a huge fatty patch glitch? Or am I just an unlucky ho. Because I cant find the forum to post this in I'm posting it here until I find it.

Also, my hardware works totally fine, I can only not hear nor talk to people IN GAME on BF2. Xfire and Skype both work totally fine with my headset/microphone/headphones.

Along with this long story, not only is my VOIP still not working, but I cant even play Battlefield anymore. Due to poor computer equipment I was forced to play games with a max of 48 players, now I can't even play 48 because it lags so horrifically that it's impossible for me to even watch and understand how I've managed to teleport across the entire map and die instantly. Ever since this lame patch has come out everything has started going wrong, please someone, tell me theres a way to fix everything?

Check the default recording device in Control Panel.

Upgrade your shitbox. The game's 5 years old now.

Hey thanks for posting. I've done that, multiple times. Believe me, if I didn't have to pay for other things I'd upgrade my computer, but obviously I can't right now so I'm looking for answers pertaining to the VOIP, not the shitstack I call a computer.

BF2VoiceSetup.exe ?

You could also try disabling the onboard Mic if you're using a USB headset.

Yeah I've tried the voice setup too, I've tried all variants of microphone/VOIP setups, like the Microsoft one, the Logitech one, and the BF2 one. Disabling the onboard mic sounds different than what I've tried, how do I do that and are there any repercussions?

Assuming you're using the headset for speakers too, you can disable the onboard device in Device Manager or BIOS.

Okay, I'll give that a try. To be honest though, my main priority is figuring out why BF2 is lagging so much all of a sudden. I've been playing for about 4 weeks completely fine 0 issues before everything started going down the crapper, any ideas as to why it JUST started lagging?

I'm assuming you meant my computer specs by the way, haha.

Do you have at least 20gb free disk space? And I assume that's only one physical HDD? A second HDD with your BF2 install on might help, separate to your OS.

That rig is waay out of date now, I'm not at all surprised that you're not getting great gameplay. If you've been totally fine before and all of a sudden it's gone Pete Tong, I would hazard a guess that one or more of your components is going to give up the ghost. Likely your RAM or GPU. If you can scrape the money together, I suggest a complete rebuild. Some of the techies could probably suggest a fairly cheap build for your area that would out perform your rig by a mile.

Cheers

Should play fine on Low-Medium, no AA.

Have you tried re-installing sound card drivers and re-installing BF2?
Does voip work on any other games if you play them?

BF2 > Audio > Enable VoIP [X]

And buy a 2 X 1024GB set of RAM. Shouldn't put you back more than 50 quid.

I'm newby
What is AA?
And also I really do not have a single dollar to spare toward a computer, so at this point anything that has anything to do with replacing computer parts, though it may be the only answer to my problems, is not something I am able to do at this time. I'm really just focused on getting my computer to running BF2 normal again. Again, my computer runs literally everything fine, there has been no sign of error in any program, no spyware or malware, no virus's or even bad cookies. I have at least 50 GB of free space, and I tried to re-download my drivers, but when I went to the SB site and tried to install the correct one, it told me it was the wrong driver, even though it was for my soundcard.

Did you do what Irishpride said?  It may be as simple as that.  Load BF2, go to options > audio > enable VOIP.

AA is anti-aliasing.

Yes I've done that, the VOIP is the last thing I really want to worry about at this moment, I mainly want to understand why my game would suddenly start lagging to the point that I could barely play. I think its a hardware issue because it does this in single player as well, but what could have changed?

Any recent installs or updates?  Harddrive making clicking noises?

No clicking noises no, I updated Java, somewhat sure it was before problems, not positive though. I also updated BF2, obviously haha, but that was 4 weeks before the problems, other than that I can't really think of any installations or updates that I made.

Reformatting always helps. If you don't want to reformat, disable some useless programs in your start-up by going to Run -> msconfig, and Run -> services.msc.

Use this list to determine if it's necessary to disable them or not.

Also, update all your drivers.

I'll try and remove them, but I'm sure its more of a hardware->game compatibility issue.

Maybe your ISP is throttling your internet connection.  How are download speeds?  Torrents?
Anyone in the house using internet telephony?
try tracert to your favorite server, and see if your going through a bad node?

My interwebs seems to be working fine, got a pretty fast download speed, and the bandwidth isn't being spread like a hooker between any multiple lines.

Is it internet lag or hardware lag?

As in, does your ping spike and put your aim and movement to shite or does the game constantly jitter around with plummeting FPS?
