got any popo lolo intersting?

So earlier I was looking into getting a monitor and settled between Samsung P2350 and 2370. Now, however, my brother bought the P2350 and I do not like it. I hate the glossy frame and the stand is weak and has barely any adjustments. Thereby I need a new choice.

What I require:
  • The normal stuff: 5ms or less, good picture quality, full HD (1920x1200 or 1920x1080)
  • At least 23" size
  • Solid stand with at least height and angle adjustments
  • Preferably matte finish. Glossy is distracting. Also I am not a fan of wide frames, minimal = good
  • Preferably less than 250 eurocoins
  • DVI, I don't need HDMI

Thanks for any help!

Well, HDMI comes pretty much standard on a monitor of that spec.

You'd be better off with x1080, will look better if you watch movies.

Just a couple of tips.

Dunno, most movie rips are something retarded like 1920x800 anyways. And extra desktop space is always nice

I'm using BenQ G2400W, 24". Works.
No, I don't need an attitude adjustment. You just need to fuck off.

I wouldn't recommend BENQ, ever. They have decent-ish picture for the price, but they are bound to fail within a couple of years.

Trust me, I have five BENQ screens for that exact reason.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

i've had this screen for 3 years (?) now, and it's still working, nothing wrong with it.
but then again, the fact that I like it doesn't mean that you have to like it.

Unless they have changed OEM right after making my screens, I wouldn't expect too much more life out of it. One can always hope.

On topic, I'd warmly recommend the Samsung 2443BW. A bit more than 250€, but a mate of mine has it, and it's one of the most awesome screens I've ever used. 16:10, non-glossy, and the design is just screaming "business". Great build quality, too.

Oooh, samsung has a neat configurator on their page and it indeed gave me 2443BW and 2443FW. Seems good, I'll look into this.

I agree with Freezer re the BenQ monitors.

I had one for a very short time and it very quickly got dead pixels for no reason other than having the thing turned on.

because most movies aren't in 16:9, and because a little letterboxing won't make it look worse. He'll have a better field of view in games, and he'll have a higher resolution.

1920x1080 is 16:9.
And there are more movies in 16:9 than 16:10, aren't there?

so you have a little bit more letterboxing on a 16:10 monitor, it's really not a big deal. The benefits of a 16:10 monitor are worth a bit of letterboxing.

There are pretty much no movies (as in movies you 'acquire') that are in either 16:9 or 16:10. 16:10 is far superior for everything but movies in 16:9, and thus the better choice.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity.
