After this Windows 7 crap, I need a new PC after my 5 year old seems to be on its last legs. I've no major idea about PC stuffs, so I've got a couple of PCs which seem to be alright for the price. My budget is £500 but the lower the better, I don't want to waste money on something I won't use to its full potential. Like I don't want to run the latest games in HD or something.

Let me know how decent these seem

PS. I realise building my own would get me a lot more for my money but building one isn't for me.

Cheers (L)

worse than a GeForce 6800? lol

If I pushed for £530 for the Dell, NVidia GeForce GT220 1024MB graphics card sounds alright?

Why not build your own?
If you re-used the monitor, case and some other stuff from the old one you could easily build a decent PC within a £500 budget
#edit: fine, dont build your own... The Dell would get my vote

I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

I would maybe try and build my own, but installing RAM was terrifying enough lol

TBH it's all sort of like lego, just get some people to check you buy the right stuff.

I built my own with a little help from here.
It's not that hard tbh, everythings fairly obvious as to where it goes. Just make sure you put the CPU paste on the right side...

That and make sure you're touching the case when you put the stuff in, made that mistake repainting my case and blew the mobo up

If need be, we'll help you through every step. It's saving you a hell of a lot of money doing it that "harder" way and you get a much better system.

It's an experience, you can't really go wrong, unless you do what that guy did and put the paste on the wrong side of the CPU.

I'd get a Samsung Spintpoint tbh. The rest looks good. Would buy OCZ RAM personally, though.

Yeah that HD is a green one which means it is either 5400RPM or toggles between 5400 and 7200. Slower than regular anyways.

Make it yourself!

We'll help you. Promise. Please don't waste your moneys on a prebuilt. Pleeeeeeease.

Also, reuse your old computers parts (Case, perhaps PSU, monitor, etc) and download Windows, don't buy!

Made some edits to include different RAM and a better HDD, whats the current spec so we have some idea on what you can re-use?

Missing a GFX card?  Maybe a 9800GT or something, considering he doesn't have any desire to run the latest games.

I would stay away from the OCZ Gold though, it has a pretty high failure rate. OCZ's Reaper series is pretty good from my own experience though.

With the new Core i5/i3s coming down in price like the Challenger rocket, I don't see a reason not to go that way.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Cheers guys, I'll definitely consider building rather than pre-built then in the future. (PC seems to be working fine... for now. give it a week or so lol)

Why not just go for a DX11 5770 at ~£130?
