That's true.

As far as I'm concerned not getting any points would have been a crime.  I'm just saying really that we aren't being encouraged to destroy these objects if there isn't anything in it for us.  There really is no reason to play for a win, and that is why you have so many medic whores, jet/chopper whores, etc...  we need incentive, and incentive is points.

Absolutely.

I'd say a very short summary of what bf2 should be is: a balanced game promoting teamwork.

There are many things promoting teamwork already, like supplies, heals, etc. However, destroying the enemy's assets is a very important task, but you still only get 1 point for destroying something. In my opinion, 1 is too little - you only get 5 points for the quite difficult job of destroying every piece of equipment in the largest size base.

People get 5 points for dropping a bomb in a jet, blasting a few infantry in a tank, or throwing a c4 sandwich. This encourages more people to do those things and less people to try to take out assets.

That is imbalance.

If each asset destroyed gave 2-3 points (it could even be variable - 2 for the scan trailer, 3 for uav and artillery), it would encourage people just enough so that more people would try to take out assets, but not too many. It would be much better balanced. 1 point creates a lack of incentive for the job, 4 or 5 points would create too much incentive, and I believe 2 or 3 would be perfect.

What is necessary to get EA's attention on this? I'm guessing they don't browse through every post on these forums.

P.S. I believe this post should actually be in bf2 improvements, could someone move it please?

If they made it 2-3 points then i might be able to get my vet repair badge...Yeah one point is too little for the job and 4-5 points is too much for the job 2-3 would be perfect as stated above

Repair points are just fine how they are.

But I do agree that blowing up UAV, Sat, and Arty should be worth 2 points. Nothing more than that though.
Good to be back.

I don't really know where to post this to get EA's attention.  It would probably take nothing more than a few seconds on the keyboard and a click of the mouse to change.

I think its fine the way it is.

Most of the time if a SF dude blows up an UAV for example right away the commander drops a supply crate which repairs the UAV again. The only thing the SF has to do is get some ammo from the supply crate and blow it up again.

I don't know for sure, but...

I think everyone already gets 2 points for destroying a stratigec object:
One for the kill, and
one as a team point.

Since destroying artillery helps your team, isn't it a team point?
If not, it should be.

And if it's a 2 point kill, I want a 2 point repair, too, for each gun.

Here here.

But it's still darned demoralizing to get all the way across a 64 player map without dying, find the asset, blow it up and only get one point.

It's not impossible to get all the way across the map in karkand to do that, just very difficult.  The same goes for Wake Island.  I'm sure there are other maps that are just as hard,  Strategic assests should have a little more value for the hard work of getting there, on foot to blow it.  If any one class has a complaint about points it might be the engineers.  From what I have read and seen most everyone can get 25 heal or ammo points very easily.  Getting 25 repairs points is not so easy because you can't spam bags everywhere like medics and support guys can.  You also have to wait while you repair an assest to get the point.  Throw a medic or ammo bag and as soon as some one runs over it.  You get a point.  Spec Ops should be rewarded for their dedication and hardwork.  Engineers shouldn't have to work two or three times harder than medics or support guys to get their points.

you spec op's freaks are all the same.  the points are fine where they are...both engi and spec op's...if you raise them you will have people point farming like crazy.

what's next?  do you want points for blowing up bridges too?  after all engineers get a point for fixing one...and why has noone mentioned that yet?  a blown bridge can be a greater advantage.

If Spec Ops begin to use their C4 only against Strategic Object and bridges, it's gonna be awesome for tank driver, Spec-Ops will become like Snipers against Tanks

Engineers do not get a repair point for fixing bridges

Don't drop supplies.  Tell your team you want a dedicated engineer to repair them.  Have him form his own locked squad if he can.  He will get a bunch of points repairing it.  And it frees up your supplies for a squad who needs to rearm and repair on their way to the next objective.  I prefer to use an APC for that task, but sometimes there aren't enough APCs to go around so a hummer works almost as good.  Generally he won't need a UAV overhead, but the occassional Sat scan and telling him where the spec ops guys are will help him kill them so he gets a chance to repair uninterrupted.

A good Engineer, in that role, is worth about an extra 10 pts on your command score as well.

I got 30 pts, 13 repair, 5 kills worth 10 and a couple of other points from other things in that role.  On a really good team it might be boring if you don't get any spec ops activity.  I usually switch to that role once I see that our commander's assets are being attacked.  You could do the same as an engineer in the commander role, but that does detract from your ability to command.
