That's true.
As far as I'm concerned not getting any points would have been a crime. I'm just saying really that we aren't being encouraged to destroy these objects if there isn't anything in it for us. There really is no reason to play for a win, and that is why you have so many medic whores, jet/chopper whores, etc... we need incentive, and incentive is points.

Absolutely.
I'd say a very short summary of what bf2 should be is: a balanced game promoting teamwork.
There
are many things promoting teamwork already, like supplies, heals, etc. However, destroying the enemy's assets is a
very important task, but you still only get 1 point for destroying something. In my opinion, 1 is too little - you only get 5 points for the quite difficult job of destroying every piece of equipment in the largest size base.
People get 5 points for dropping a bomb in a jet, blasting a few infantry in a tank, or throwing a c4 sandwich. This encourages more people to do those things and less people to try to take out assets.
That is imbalance.
If each asset destroyed gave 2-3 points (it could even be variable - 2 for the scan trailer, 3 for uav and artillery), it would encourage people just enough so that
more people would try to take out assets, but not too many. It would be much better balanced. 1 point creates a lack of incentive for the job, 4 or 5 points would create too much incentive, and I believe 2 or 3 would be perfect.
What is necessary to get EA's attention on this? I'm guessing they don't browse through every post on these forums.
P.S. I believe this post should actually be in bf2 improvements, could someone move it please?
