Yes. So, I've currently been sleeping on the floor for the past 8 or so months (maybe a year, can't remember) and I'm getting parts of the place redone (more space, throwing a lotta crap out), and therefore, I thought I'd treat myself and get a bed.

Double bed, of course. Not kingsize. Double will do - Simply because I don't have the space.

Anybody got any suggestions (preferably some beds that I can find in the UK). Budget? Dunno, I'm open to any suggestions.

I was thinking of one of those japanese low lying beds.... But the only problem with that is that bed "interactions" could be slightly less comfortable than a higher up one. Thoughts? This one caught my eye... But photos can be deceptive.

I also like the look of this one

As you can see, I want simple and modern. No fancy shit. Something that looks good in a white room, and has a nice frame.

Suggestions?

Are beds really something you can shop for online ...? I recommend going to a bed shop.

Oh, I realise that, but I can still go to a bed shop and check them out after I've seen a few online. I was just wanting suggestions on what is good.

You probably won't like those low lying beds. When you get in and out of them it's weird. Especially for an interaction it would be. My personal preference is the higher the better. Well, to an extent. Simple designs like the one you posted are nice though.

Just don't get a low lying bed. You've already been on the floor long enough, why just go for a small upgrade when you can go the whole way.

That bed looks really small? Maybe it's just the pillows or something. I also hate how short British beds are.

the one in your pic looks to low to the ground for me. make it about knee height and you're in business.

lol.

So you sleep on the floor in a white room? Well, I guess it's kosher.

And Liq is right- go to the store.

I don't see how the height of the bed will make any difference to anything, surely it's just a preference and a matter of aesthetics.

My bed at uni is quite a bit lower than my bed at home. Haven't had any "problems" here.

Yeah, pretty sure it's just how the pillows are set out - and the camera angle.

Whoa! Slow down here, you can't just make the transition from floor to bed like that

Buy a mattress first sleep on that for a month or so, then you'll be ready for a bed. If you go too quickly with this you can severely damage your back Zimmer!

Getting in and out of a bed each time makes a difference. A low bed like that and you'll soon learn it was sheer luxury "sliding" out of bed like you used to.

It also depends on the room I guess. If you're in a dorm room or something and it's a small single bed it probably doesn't really register that much. But in a bigger room, and a double bed, if it's low lying, I dunno, for me it feels all standard hotel style, not very comfortable, not something you'd want as "your" bed.

Well... The interaction wouldn't be weird for me, that's the point.

I sleep on the floor for various reasons, none of them being to save space or because I don't have a bed or because I think it's cool.

I know about the store, I'll be heading there today or tomorrow, but I wanted to get ideas first. I actually sleep anywhere, so the matress and stuff really don't bother me at all. I sleep like a baby even when leaning on a door edge on a wooden chair.

@whaaat - Tempur-Pedic are fantastic, and I have their pillows, I just don't think my budget stretches to that price for a mattress. Do you actually have one or are you just recommending it? I can get the same kind of benefits with a special throwover that goes over a normal mattress.

Tempur-Pedic

Mine was a little over 3k.  It's worth every penny.
Sleeping isn't the only thing that is better on that bed...

Tempur-Pedic are great, I've got my parents old one and they recently bought themselves a new one. Mine is 12 years old and still awesome. Mattresses are definitely one of those things where spending extra money gets you a lot more. Buy a cheap one and in a couple of years time you'll start getting a sore back.
