I'm sure it was worth every penny because you had that money to spend on it. It's not worth it when I don't. $3k is a hell of a lot for a mattress. I rarely get back pains and have no problems sleeping anywhere, or with anyone else, so spending that much on a mattress is unjustified. Now, for the other factor, that's interesting... No but really it pays off to buy a proper bed. I paid several thousand € for my custom made. You spend 1/3 of your life in bed and it helps a helluva lot if you get a good nights sleep in a good bed and get to relax completely. After two spinal surgeries I kinda know to appreciate a proper bed.
Save your money on useless cosmetic bed frames and spend it on the right mattress.
