Don't we already have a thread like this?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Lame, I know, but my room's pretty small, and I have the speakers mounted in 4 corners so it gives this nice room-filling sound. People that come in and hear it tend to frantically move their head around trying to figure out where the sound's coming from

I also have a set of Logitech X-540's set up in a proper surround setup around my main PC for Gaming, but I rarely if ever tend to actually bother to switch to them when I game.

I wouldn't use the Audigy if I were you. The decoding hardware in the 5500s is better than in Audigy series cards. It's essentially a 6-channel version of the one in the X-Fi and for 6 channel speakers that's all you need.

SPDIF passthrough all the way.
