I used to go to church mainly because every else did. Then my dad died in lung cancer (never smoked anything so wtf) when I was 8th grade and I totally lost my interest in goddamn religion. Haven't been in church after that (except brothers wedding).

Well actually time was created with the big bang. In space-time there is no time at singularities (black holes, big bang) so there was no time before the big bang and theoretically no time inside of black holes. I'm not sure exactly how that works out but it does and, unlike religion, if you want to verify this you can go research it and see and understand why this is a law of the universe. What was before the big bang? we don't know and may never know but there was something. There is no way to know what this universe is but that is no reason to stop looking for answers to understand it the most we can.
