My rent is $600 a month, I stretch my food budget like hell and spend $30 a week. so we will say $720 a month. An extra $800 a month makes $1520 a month, full time 40 hour work work week means $380 a week or $9.50 an hour untaxed... Say 15% income tax and its the same as me making about $11 an hour, eating rice and chicken, riding the bus and living in a small apartment.

Id bolt atleast another $100 dollars a week on that she would have been paying for accomodation and food per week. Plus, its likley whe will be off weekends and public holidays as the parents will be off work and look after their kids, unless ofcourse they don't give a toss about their kids. Anyway, what better way to see America than from within an American family. She should save as much as she can and then head off for a tour after her years work. Not a bad deal tbh.
