If that is the case, planning your response around a gun is stupid.
If you do not intend to use it, you would be escalating their perceived threat while not actually providing any additional means to stop an attack against you.
this

if you're not prepared to use it don't bring it

Just putting a notice up might make people think there could be a Policeman at any table, and the Police attitude to helping you might be better.

There's always screamer alarms, so loud the only thing they want to do is get out.
that's actually not a bad idea

and the "but they're only robbing you at gun point, their life is still precious" line of thought get's a lot of victims executed for no other reason than.... (shock and horror here, brace yourself) ARMED ROBBERS ARE BAD PEOPLE

Agreed.

If they rob you at gunpoint, then they would probably have no problems with shooting you if you point a gun at them..
Oh if i'm at risk you bet i would use it. What i meant is i'm not about to go on a shooting rampage like its implicit on my license denial, at the same time i took shooting lessons with a bunch of guys in my line of work cause it's a requirement to get a license and i was the only one who got declined

That's not a bad idea but my place is more gourmet cuisine less donuts and coffee joint. I'm not sure i serve enough food to make a cop happy.

Well that's certainly a poor attitude to have towards the people who you expect to have help you. The point is not to make them happy, the point is simply to suggest to crooks that there MAY be a police officer inside. If you DO happen to make a police officer happy and he chooses to eat lunches at your restaurant, you've not only gained the security you sought, but you've turned a buck at the same time.

Great idea, Dilbert.

You do realise that a Police welcome sign in a restaurant like mines would be a bit awkward, right? Every customer feeling uncomfortable. I would have to trade the business meeting guys and the adulterous couple for the blue squad and guess who spends more?

Out of curiousity, would a 25% discount still bring you any amount of profit?

Tag price on  food plus drinks for one is about €50 so yes a little.
Thing is with the cops by your side no one would order drinks and i need to sell lots of expensive wine bottles.

Get a crossbow.  Will still fuck someone up, but you likely won't need a lisence for it.

OK, so it might not work so well in your case.
But the idea is to make them not want to rob you in the first place, once you reach the point where its you and your gun versus the hoodlum and his gun the outcome is down to luck and who shoots first.

Can you cut the amount of cash you store in the first place? eg give a discount for card payment? It will cost you but there you go.

I had a crossbow, you only get 1 shot and I'm pretty confident after being hit an adult male can carry on for a long amount of time pistol whipping you to death. I wonder if a repeating crossbow requires a license.

Invest in screamer alarms and some panic glare lights. You get a break-in, your restaurant lights up like a rave.

that depends on where you take the hit, and what type of bolt head is used

If guns were illegal and I was consistently in circumstances where my life was in danger, yes I'd still own one.  Self defense is a pretty good way to stay out of jail, just like the shop owner with the shotgun.  He owned that for years before having to use it.

My friends in the business say i'm the lucky one 'cause being a target means i'm making money, most restaurants in this area are just scraping by.
The problem with plastic here is the rates i have to pay already, for debit cards is 1.2 and credit card is 2. So i'm a happy camper when i see paper money but that's a valid idea.

I'm in my room right now. Next to me is a Glock 17 with 17 rounds of 9mm Federal Hydrashock SD ammo. In the closet to my right, a Colt 1911 with 7 rounds of 45 ACP Federal SD ammo. Thats just my room.

People are so fucking quick to reach for the guns these days. I'm glad I live in a society where the thought "does this guy have a gun?" doesn't even cross my mind. I've been mugged before and I didn't need a gun to hand the guy his own ass on a plate.

Note: I'll admit, it's different for Americans... you guys are fucked, there's too many guns in your country. If you don't have a gun you're probably in the minority.

We live in a very nice part of town. Warren Buffett lives right down the street from us. There have been a lot of break ins around here lately. They happen mostly during the day while people are at work and because it's a nice neighborhood people leave their doors unlocked. A few have happened a night while everyone was a sleep and didn't find out till morning. Awhile ago some guy broke into the house down the street and murdered a little kid and the woman that was watching him while the parents were at work. Not long after that, the woman that worked at the gas station down the street was pulled from her car after work and was murdered right there. One of the guys that did it went to my high school. (My high school has 2400 students btw so i didn't know the asshole) They were all stabbed to death. Someone has already tried to break into our house through the back door but our dog scared him/them off. If someone breaks into my home while i'm there, I'm not going to dick around and ask questions first. If you break into my house, you're a threat. I'm going to assume that my life is in danger and I'm going to shoot to kill. I'm a really good shot too. I've been shooting since I was little. The moral of the story is, if you don't want to get shot, don't break into my fucking house. Simple as that.
