No, not a monitor lizard..

https://i45.tinypic.com/23iv3mc.jpg

I'm looking for a new monitor. 5:4 gaming is going out for me.

Requirements:

Well branded product, Samsung?
Would prefer 1920, but will settle for 1680.
Freeview/TV tuner
22-26"
No more than £250.
HDMI input

Plz&thnx.

Samsung T240HD
1920x1600
TV tuner
24"
Around $270 U.S.
2 HDMI inputs

I love this monitor, but some drawbacks are it doesn't tilt and it's blacks are not that great, but that's what you get with a tv/monitor combo.

I think they discontinued this model, so you'll have to look for a t220hd ($229) or t260hd($329). The 220 isn't 1920.

Sorry for not posting links. I'm not good enough at this tech stuff to give foreign links.

US links would be good, just so I know what you're talking about, and so I can read specs. the T260HD is also discontinued I've heard, not sure if the whole T series are.

Tilt isn't really a problem, I'd either be sitting directly infront of it or on my couch, and I can see my untiltable Dell 17" alright from both places. I've heard the viewing angles on Samsungs are quite awesome, too.

O wow. I haven't been looking at monitors for like a year now, since i got the 240. But i think there are more samsung tv/monitor combos that i saw in black friday ads. the samsung viewing angles are pretty amazing.

How would this look at lower resolutions, 1680x1050, or 1280x800 for example? I highly doubt my 5770 would be able to do current gen games at 1920x1080 with the FPS I like

LCD's look like crap outside of their native resolution.  I'm not sure what your FPS requirements are but it should do pretty well @ 1920 x 1080 as my 8800GT still does 1680 x 1050 well.   You may have to turn some settings down if your not happy with your FPS but that will still look better than running an LCD out of it's native res.

I'm running current gen games at 1920x1200 on my 512MB 8800gt. The only game that is causing me any fps problems is bfbc2 but i'm running it on medium settings and still getting above 40 fps for the most part.

I'd say the 5770 shouldn't have any problems with the resolution.

My advice, get a Samsung or an LG.

Definitely do not get a BenQ.

Depends what you're gonna be doing dunnit? 16:9 is better for watching movies AFAIK. My Lappy is 16:9 and stuff looks good on that. (When the screen is clean)

TV/monitors generally are poorer than a proper monitor. Just get a proper decent screen and USB DVB tuner for a tenner.

My advice is don't go for a monitor which your video card can't handle (gaming wise)

I say it time and time again. You want 1920 monitor you should have a high end card. Otherwise don't bitch if you can't play games on its native res. And yes, shit sucks on anything but the native res. Don't fall for the people who will convince you to buy a 1920 monitor, it means more money in the long run being wasted. You don't even need that large of a monitor.

for comparison's sake I can run BF:BC2 just fine all medium smooth on 1920x1200 with a 9800GTX.

If you have simply changed your mind about any item ordered and you wish to return it, then in line with the Distance Selling Regulations (DSR) you can do so provided you inform us of your decision within 10 days of receipt.
I can send it back if it sucks, so I think I might go for it.
