Ice Dam Help

Right so some of you may have this issue if your house is in cold climate. Basically my issue is the crawl space was not desinged correctly. I will be correcting this in the spring. But, in the meantime, any suggestions would help. I have removed the snow from the first 5 feet of the roof all around the house. I even got some roof ice melt stuff that isnt working. It really hasn't been warm enough but this week its supposed to at least be in the 30's with no snow in the forecast so that might do it.

I don't know what that Roofmelt is, but if it's salt, you've at least got the right idea. A friend was having the same problem with a large shed he had built that summer, so everyday he would throw cups of road-salt up on the edge of the roof to melt it. I would imagine that's exactly what you're Roofmelt crap is; so I'll say put it on each day and wait it out.

gave that a go the other day but then it snowed. was taking forever though. it would be spring before a heat gun would get it all.

Plenty of small holes close to eachother (or with a bigger drillbit if you have a nice powertool) and a gentle whack should get the ice down on the ground.

A chemical solution is probably the only way one man could do it in a smallish timeframe... judging by those pics. The most I've ever had regarding ice problems was a freezer that iced up totally, a crowbar and elbow grease did the job in a few hours
