Is there any reason you can't just leave the ice and not worry about it?
Its not as if you have any visitors so chunks of ice aren't going to land on anyone's head.
Suggest just sealing up the air leaks and putting more insulating in next year, or move to somewhere awesome like Australia.

so, what was your genius solution? i hope you managed something, if your getting internal leaks . . .
Fuck that. Salting it once to prevent a collapse or major leak is a necessary evil. I'm willing to bet the rain fall over the course of a year is more damaging to you gutters and hardware than the single run-in they will have with the saltwater. It's the way.11 Bravo wrote:

The shape of an eye in front of the ocean, digging for stones and throwing them against its window pane. Take it down dreamer, take it down deep. - Other Families
Yup, Chemical solution is the only solution for one guy and his frozen roof. Fuck the after effects, you'll probably just want to get rid of that ice for nowPochsy wrote:

Actually, the hot air gun isn't a bad idea...just "cut" grooves in the ice to get it broken up a bit. So, no corrosive salt and no breaking the roof with an axe... what ya think?

He tried the hot air gun, took too long. Marine, dont slip off the roof, dont want you to break your legs and then subsequently be eaten by a family of hungry badgers.tuckergustav wrote:

Prob best to cut some slots in the ice, to let the melting snow water from higher up drain away, don't need to remove all of it.tuckergustav wrote:

Although, while it's getting hotter everywhere else, you might get stuck in an area with a new ice age.
I suggest you tear down your house altogether and start building an igloo.
If you can't beat it, join it!
