Okay, so I was thinking of getting some HID's on my 05 Suzuki GSXR 750 but I just don't know anymore.

Apparently they are actually illegal as an aftermarket part. Also there is a chance of there being a bad light cutoff on the road, and a chance of me blinding oncoming traffic.

I was looking at lights with a blue tint on them as my bike is white/blue/black so possibly the 8000k's, or the 6500k's?

Anyone here have HID's, get pulled over for them?

The main reason for me looking at new headlights is that my bike's headlights don't light up a whole lot, and I'd like to have drivers take a second look at that light approaching them. This and to increase daytime visibility.

Any thoughts/comments/info welcome.

Thanks

I hate people who put Xenon lights on their bikes...

They adjust them, and THEN they hop on the bike going for a ride, which causes the light to blind everyone and everything -.-

For the sake of everyone else on the road, do not get Xenon lights on your Motorcycle please...

I can understand your reasoning behind doing this, but if I were you I'd check with the DMV or whatever authority you can check into to see if they are legal/illegal and then to consider just replacing the headlight(s) you do have with something brighter that is still legal.

Would you consider wearing a bright yellow safety jacket if you want to increase your visibility?

Yeah I've never actually seen anyone with them. What type of light would you recommend for brightness?

I have no personal experience yet. But next time I need bulbs for my car I think I will try those Osram Nightbreakers, they should have good ligting, and they are slightly blue-ish afaik..

I think 6500k's would be more than enough for brightness, most of the ones i've fitted have been 6500k.

Just make sure once fitted you have them adjusted properly.

Otherwise, as you said, buy the more efficient bulbs.

Take a look at those regular bulbs with increased efficiancy. They usually make quite the difference. Ask your local trusted parts dealer which are good, because there are a lot of crappy ones with no benefit to illumination.

Enjoy being mainbeamed by me if I see you coming, I don't give a shit if you fall off.

Also, if you wear a black helmet with a tinted visor, black leathers and ride a black bike at night you're not helping yourself.
Waving your fist while riding along just looks gay TBH.

Meh, I just "full-beam" people who put aftermarket Xenon's on without adjusting them correctly...

Dilbert your such a cock

It's cool that you don't give a shit if I fall off, really bad ass of you.

It would be cooler if you knocked me off with a trident though, but I suppose getting 'main beamed' is just as cool.

But wait, if Im wearing black leathers (you know the full suit that you only wear on a racetrack, I guess your mainbeaming me on a racetrack? At night?) and ride a black bike then maybe I am helping myself, from you, mainbeaming me at the track. The visor would cut down on the light too.

But really you have no clue what your talking about do you, I mean, you cant see through a tinted visor at night. You dont wear leathers off the track, and obviously you havent looked at my avitar because it doesnt have a black motorcycle in it.

And dilbert, I hope you dont drive a black Escalade with heavy tint, smoked turnsignals, smoked headlights, black rims and drive with your headlights off because thats what the cool kids do or ill kick the shit out of your door

Meh.  I wouldn't do the new headlamp, especially if it is illegal.  No point in giving the cops another reason to pull you over.  If you want to be more visible, wear neon with reflective tape on it.  Some fuckers in FL put a flashing strobe as their day light high beam.  It illegal too and very annoying.

I have a black bike with a black leather jacket.  I also have a smoked visor (FL sunshine is brutal).  I switch out the visor to a clear one at night for I don't know too many people who wear sunglasses in the dark, and thats about what a tinted visor is.  Also my black jacket has a reflective type graphic on the back with reflective piping in some of the stitching.  Looks pretty cool at night.

When I ride I count on the average asshole 4 wheeler not seeing me.  Every car I pass or intersection I go through I count on not being seen.  4 wheelers don't understand and don't care.  That means they aren't looking for you.

Yeah there are some times when I REALLY cant get pulled over, feel me?

I'm in AZ, I got a gold mirror shield on my shoei, that sun gets BAD so I totally feel ya.

I got that reflective piping shit on my silver/black jacket too but I hate when I gotta wear it

Yeah, since this thread and some research I've just decided to ditch the idea of a new headlight...

Fit Xenons and fail to adjust them you deserve to get mainbeamed back, fit them where they are illegal I hope you die.
Plenty of people wear black leathers off the track BTW, like the guy who nearly totalled himself on the side of my Volvo - if you're invisible you're going to be hit, if you can't see where you're going you're going to get hit too.

I'm an idiot because I wear protective leather on a motorcycle that happens to be black but has bright reflective reflectors and piping all across the back?  Kay.

You obviously haven't the slightest inclination as to motocycles, defensive riding mentality or safety.  However wishing death on someone who inadvertently shines a bright light in you eye -classy.

Thanks for making my point.  The average asshole 4 wheeler doesn't care enough to pay attention to his/her surroundings.  Count on the not being seen.

Lol yeah basically

Whened we talk about they are dangerous? I feel safer on a motorcycle than in a car, I got a helmet and padding and no metal or glass to slam into my face

You got better chances seeing someone with a black jacket with reflective tape than an orange jacket without it. At night.

Callin me an idiot doesn't make you any less of a dumbass.

Lights, that I use to see with, are illegal? Holy shit why didn't I know that until I ever looked at any information about HID headlights!

And oh shit I've been in an accident and crossed solid lines, based on that criteria I should die, just like pretty much every driver on the road. But most of those other drivers probably smoke pot and cigarettes so they should die anyway.

Yeah I should wise up, maybe get something nice on my motorcycle to increase safety and visibility, like a headlight with a wider beam or something... no that sounds rediculous I'm a total dumbass I guess

Yes, because reflective tape is WAY brighter than a standard headlight. I mean if reflective tape wasn't as bright as a headlight, then you couldn't see it behind the headlight right?

The only reflective stitching on my jacket is visible from behind. They kind of make them that way for a reason
