Yes, because reflective tape is WAY brighter than a standard headlight. I mean if reflective tape wasn't as bright as a headlight, then you couldn't see it behind the headlight right?
A single headlight isn't actually a lot of use, its just a point source of light. No-one can discern a point source of light getting fractionally bigger as it moves towards them. If there is background lighting, streetlighting, shops etc it just disappears into that.
Same reason people don't see high speed trains until its too late.

Its why so many motorcyclists die at junctions, they are essentially invisible.

Okay, so I was thinking of getting some HID's on my 05 Suzuki GSXR 750 but I just don't know anymore.

Apparently they are actually illegal as an aftermarket part. Also there is a chance of there being a bad light cutoff on the road, and a chance of me blinding oncoming traffic.

I was looking at lights with a blue tint on them as my bike is white/blue/black so possibly the 8000k's, or the 6500k's?

Anyone here have HID's, get pulled over for them?

The main reason for me looking at new headlights is that my bike's headlights don't light up a whole lot, and I'd like to have drivers take a second look at that light approaching them. This and to increase daytime visibility.

Any thoughts/comments/info welcome.

Thanks

I think HID's are really cool but i dont have the money to put them in my car. The alternative being, as you said, blue tinted lights. However i dont know if having blue tinted lights would take away from the brightness.

I have the same thing as you; i want great visibility and a cool look.
