So back in October I ordered up some cable for my dorm room through Shaw Cable. In January I realized I wanted some internet as well so I ordered that up as well.
Cable = $20/month
Internet = $10/month
When I first ordered my cable (~5 months ago) I gave them my bank information, but it turns out I accidentally gave them the wrong information. I haven't paid a cent so far and in a month I will be moving out and will no longer require their service. Now, they have tried to call me a few times but I have missed their calls because I sleep in and they call in the morning... they just leave a message saying to call them about my outstanding amount owed. Anyways, if I just wait one more month and not pay, can I not just call and cancel it without paying a dime? I never signed or agreed to anything, I just called and asked for cable/internet, gave them wrong bank information, they came and installed it and I haven't paid yet. I would feel bad but they have no competition because the main internet/cable companies of canada (Shaw, Rogers, Bell) basically divided up Canada so they operate in different parts and have no competition.
Can they legally do anything about it? Bad credit? (I don't even have credit yet).
I will probably end up paying it because I'm a push over, but I'm curious if I could just beat their system if I felt like it?
