Easy science project. Bubblewrap is the easiest, but some shock absorbing design similar to how cardboard boxes are made, but wider, works.

1.) Open hair-gel bottle (must not be rigid plastic or it will crack- you need something like a shampoo bottle...or just thick shampoo like some of the salon brands)
2.) place egg on top of gel in the bottle (if it settles near the bottom, you're screwed)
3.) drop jar so bottom impacts with the lid still off.
Gel flies everywhere as egg displaces it, but it won't hit the bottom so long as the gel is thick enough and the bottle doesn't crack.
We did it when I was in 8th grade, although from a lesser height...
