I am interested to see how far this goes. Tens of thousands will be out of work. The man seems to bully one industry after the next.LostFate wrote:

It'd be awesome if those who are sworn to protect and serve the people stop enforcing bull shit laws.
So many families survive off of fishing and hunting.

No, the midterms doofuss. The dems will retreat to lame duck status and sarah palin or jeb bush will save us.
Oh my.
Oh my.
Gee guys... this couldn't have anything to do with protecting fish stocks. I mean, we couldn't possibly be overfishing now, could we?... Naaaahhh...
The dems are stupid.
The backlash coming will leave them just as marginalized as the republicans after bush.
What are they thinking?
What is the real agenda?

Yes, the fish stocks have collapsed, the global temperature is rising and we are starting suicide camps... heh that all sounds familiarTurquoise wrote:

You know I've heard this some where before... hmmmm..... OMG

Look... Look... we'll be eating people in 12 years times according to this scientific report called soylent green
Seriously, sportsmen pay alot of taxes for habitat restoration and so bureaucrats can have jobs. It would be political suicide to let the eniros have free reign in this area. I'm sure the article is a little hyped as commerical fishermen always get pissy when the govt shuts down a fishery or makes them put on turtle traps and what not. alarmist and much to do about nothing imo
Ya right.
The environmental cult that now feels it has free reign in Washington doesn't like furs, tree cutters, off road vehicles or hurting little fishies.

You know, you're right. I forgot that fish are endless in supply. I also forgot that we couldn't possibly have any negative effects on the environment.Diesel_dyk wrote:

All this talk of rising mercury levels in fish must be nonsense too.
A majority of lakes in California are stocked by fish hatcheries. Many of these lakes are above 8000 feet and are generally considered pristine. So, say goodbye to the helicopter pilots who drop the fish, the hatcheries, the feed companies that supply them, the tourist that come to the OWENS River gourge...Turquoise wrote:

Mercury in sea fish is another story.
I know because of my experience in metals that vast quantities of ore are smelted and cast into ingots at sea. China buys containers of scrap copper from u.s. companies. The metal is shredded at the recycler, loaded onto to shipping containers and melted at sea on the way to china. They load scrap in America and unload ingots in China, get it?
Industrial waste is dumped all over in places they think will not notice and the criminals doing this should be shot.
The recreational ban on fishing would be an attempt to cut down on green house gasses put of by the boats, they just lack the balls to say it and mask their actions as preventing over fishing. The cult of global warming at work.
Say it with me,
fuck off and die.

This is all about animal rights people extending those rights to every living thing on the planet. Hyperbole yes, but most of these people won't be satisfied until we're all subsisting on a diet of raw spinach.

"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

I and other conservatives like me feel vindicated that we saw threw this man's vale. I hope enough of us, and our new compatriots, can start turning this around come November.
Conservation makes sense. [Over-]Conservation where it isn't needed does not.JohnG@lt wrote:

The proposals apply to commercial fishing as well -- which do overfish.JohnG@lt wrote:

I would agree that sportsmen aren't the problem, but commercial fishers are.
Ideally, Obama should just put in restrictions regarding the commercial fishers.
