Hey guys i bought the harddrive recommended by the fellas here, its a 1 tb samsung SATA 3gb/s drive.

I've always used a IDE cable drive, and have never tried plugging in a SATA drive.

The drive DOES work, i feel and hear it spinning/thinking inside.

Every option in my BIOS that has to do with SATA appears to be on and correct.

- I looked over all the options in my bios screen and it all appears to be on the setting that makes sense.

The cable IS plugged into the correct SATA port, and the connection is secure. (its not plugged into the sata-raid port. just the "sata" port. sata #1. ive also tried other numbers.)

I dont know what else to do. I inserted the windows 7 disc and proceeded as if i was going to format/install but it couldnt detect a harddrive.

suggestions please!

switch to "legacy IDE" mode for the SATA controller.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
