Shifty, I'm sorry that you are going through this. It sounds like your Dad has made some pretty inconsiderate decisions recently. You need to realize something...your Dad is human. Just because he holds the title of "Your Dad" doesn't mean he isn't going to sometimes make decisions that might seem to hurt you. His life has changed a lot recently, just like yours has and whether it was to do with his own decisions is beside the point. You have every right to be upset, bewildered, confused and just plain pissed off...it's your dad ffs. But just know that this whole messed up part of divorce does calm down eventually. You will be ok!!

Again, I am so sorry that you have to deal with this...it is never easy. My parents divorced when I was 22 years old and it was still messed up. It gets better though. I promise.

It's just genes. You have a close bond with your relations because you've interacted with them throughout your life, both sides have invested emotion, time and energy. I could have a half brother living in another town, i'd have no real interest in meeting him though despite having a small family. I guess you can split relations into "family" and "relatives".
