One of the things I will miss about California is the desert.
It is odd that in such a brutal and harsh place once a year, for a period of about two weeks, it explodes with color and scents.
First comes the wild flowers and over the next month the cactus will come into full bloom. This was by far the best flower season I have seen in 15 years. Those living around L.A.; don't miss out!

This little black wasp dragged the worm, three times its size, thrashing and fighting to its hole to be devoured alive. Awesome show.

Juicy and plump, this bugger is likely lunch for a lizard by now. About four inches long.

Aww, I'd like to see that!
I only have cactuses on my window sill. Though, their blossoms were nice too.

Isn't that a sand wasp, which buries a live caterpillar for their offspring to eat it alive?

Sounds like an anal aligment.

To get back on track, it does amaze me when I see things of beauty popping up in a horrible, boring background, ie a desert.

Over here you get flowers growing out of brick walls and I stop and think, 'how the fuck did it grow there' and then I carry on and go about my business as usual.

Ive never wanted to visit a desert, sand dunes as a kid was bad enough
