Lithium is hardcore, there are better medications for that kind of thing out there in most cases (of course, I don't know anything about your ex's case, nor do I have any clinical expertise, I'm just a mental health support worker whom works with people who take the whole gamut of medication).Uzique wrote:

The only pill I currently take is tramadol .. and it is we-eek. I had an injury a few years ago to my back, on the job. The workers comp doc was pretty much demanding $urgery. I said no, settled, and moved on. I'm much better now by doing my own thing. Core strengthening exercises etc.
Surgery sux, you almost never heal fully. I try to stay away at all cost. I've had two already (from Soccer). If the occasional pill is needed to make the pain bearable then so be it. I'm not popin them for shitz, gigglz, or intentional self destruction.

People who stay at my work have reported some medications (including SSRIs) to be a vast improvement to their mental health and overall quality of life though. But some of the side effects from prolonged use, especially with the older medications aren't cool, like tardive dyskinesia (involuntary clicking of the teeth, etc). I'm with Zeek on the pills btw. Took high-strength SSRIs for a year, never again. Sure, I feel batshit crazy half the time, but if that's normal for me it's normal. Fucking with it didn't do me much good in terms of stability and the side-effects sucked majorly.
