I spent a few years in one of the oldest and shittiest dorms that was the furthest from campus and up at the top of a huge hill; was the most social dorm around and it was a total blast, met lots of people and had some great times. You're not gonna be spending much time in your room anyway, so who cares if it's small crowded and older.  When I visited friends who were living in the nicer places, yes the facilities were nicer, but it was like a hotel. All the doors were closed and it was dead silent.

trust me, go with the older dorm full of freshmen. More people of your age who are in the same new setting and meeting new people. Go live with the older kids and not much will happen. They're not going to befriend you and hang out as much since they've already got their own friends. Which leaves a smaller amount of new kids to get to know.

It's weird seeing your parents befriend their friends on facebook who you've met. They're all nice, innocent, honest adults. But then you look at their pictures and see some of the stuff from their college days and it's totally different. Almost wish I could visit and hang out with their college-aged selves and see what they were like back then.

I honestly don't even know at this point. I've got my friends telling me to stay in the 55 John Street dorms, then my parents and brother are telling me to stay in the freshman dorms.

I'm honestly torn. My biggest reason for being excited for college is getting a new start since 95% of my school now can go fuck itself.

I don't have to decide until June 24th (orientation... missing prom for it. hooray) so I have a little time to get some more opinions.
