As some of you already know, there is a volcano eruption going on in Iceland right now. Obviously the only thing to do was to drive up to the volcano. Every single modified SUV was there, it was more crowded than downtown Reykjavík (not like that is impressive ).
Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the talking. (Right click > view image for higher resolution)
The group of people we traveled with (about 1/100th of the people on the glacier that day)

The volcano in a distance

Yours truly

Getting closer to the volcano

Shitloads of jeeps on 38"+ tires

Crater in sight

More jeeps

Me again (it was -20°C without wind chill )

Finally see something glowing

Teh pose. You could actually feel the heat from the volcano there.

My dad giving it the thumbs up

Waterfall being created by the heat

Notice how the lava is creating new landscape

Me and my uncle

Shitload of people on the other side of the canyon

Trail of lava, contrary to what you see there is a LOT of lava flowing below the rocky layer

My granddad, uncle and I.

Canyon where the lava flows

GET TO DA CHOPPAH!

Taking a picture of some guy taking a picture

River of lava

Shitload of steam, lava meets glacier

There you can see the crater itself

More steam...

Even more people

The amount of people there was simply mind boggling

The second crater that had just opened up.

Don't be fooled by the ash, there is no ground under us, it's 100% ice.

It got more violent and we could see better as it got dark

Convoy all across the glacier

The darker it gets, the more awsm it looks

Drove up a hill to see all the cars

And a shot of the volcano

This last image would have been so much better if we had a tripod, I had to balance the camera on the car (idling 3 liter diesel engine....not stable) and there was almost no light, so it's inevitably blurry.
Aurora + Volcano

Got home at 3AM, was one hell of a day
