Global hotkeys aren't hard to use, in fact, I like them more than media keys along the top because I don't have to move my hands from the usual typing positions. But, to each their own. I use the letters on my keyboard more than the pause button, so I'll shell out for a better typing action. Although, to be honest, the back lighting isn't worth (to me) the $50 more it costs over a Das, so I'd get one of those.
