I'm looking for good performance, decent size and low price tbh. I can't really justify to my self spending more than $300 for a monitor right now, and even that's pushing it.

Yeah if its TN panels you want (aka the ones you see in stores) then Dell and Samsung is the way to go.  If you want really high end then Dell, HP and a bunch of companies you've probably never heard of are the best
Eizo are who you want for really high end.

But they're obscenely priced.

I'll stick to my somewhat-reasonably-priced-yet-still-incredibly-high-quality Dell IPS panels
Me too.

I'm very tempted by the U2410....

Zimmer and I were very tempted by that for a while, then we saw it has a lot of reported problems.  I ended up getting the U2711, I'll post pics this weekend

I am looking for an awsm gaming monitor (under 25") myself. Does anyone have any input about Acer?
They use to have an orange colored monitor with low response time which was ideal for gaming.

I have a 22" 1080p Acer.

I love it.

Acers are a bit like Benqs (which makes sense, as Benq used to be a division of Acer). Decent for the price if you don't mind the sub-par build quality and lifespan.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'm currently using an NEC that I've had for the past 5 years. Still works perfect, despite a few dings. But it's waaaay overpriced. Would be better off with a cheaper brand that will probably save you more money in the long run and let you upgrade easier.

I've found a supplier that does wholesale only to businesses, however I was put onto it by one of my employers whom also runs a newsagency point of sale software business, with hardware support.

I've found very little info on the web, but here's what I've found about the LG E2250T-PN (note the site I'm purchasing from is different to this one, you need a login to view the pricelist).

It's boiled down to that and the BenQ G2222HDL

My employer said he's had bad experiences with LG (has had 3 die on him in under 12 months), but you guys are saying LG are better of BenQ.

Would you just say it's all opinion, or is there a clear winner between these two? I'll need an answer today as I'll be purchasing asap.

I've seen far less LGs fail than I have seen Benqs, but the LGs I have seen fail have had the same problem as the Benqs; bad caps in the power supply.

Hmm, ok, so would you get the LG over the BenQ?

What other things should I be considering? They both appear to have almost identical specs.

edit: The "Pixel Perfect" warranty seems good (LG).

I'd pick an LG over a Benq any day, although I doubt it matters a whole lot in the end. My experience tells me that LG is more reliable than Benq, but that's just my two cents.

1970gx, which is nearly the same thing I guess? Why do you ask, have they been the only reliable model from NEC?

Turns out it's gonna be a bit tricky to get the LG, and I want a new monitor asap.

Might just go with the BenQ. I'm looking to upgrade before the warranty is up anyway (3 years), so it should do me fine till then.

Thanks again guys

Just keep that in mind.
That goes for anything. It is many times a matter of bad luck.

I have a BenQ

Read the whole thread. I've had far too much bad experience with Benq to blame it on "bad luck".

Cant not argue against that. My experience tells me it can be any trademark... any kind.
Thats how it is with electronics.

All modern electronics brands fail far too soon, it's just that some fail sooner than others.
