  Buh bye!

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/63316

Two more leads have departed from Infinity Ward today, Kotaku reports. Yesterday, four more departures were confirmed and today Mark Grigsby (lead animator) and Paul Messerly (lead character animator) have resigned.  Mark Grigsby also voiced the Seargent Griggs character in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and rapped over the game's credits (audio NSFW).  Paul Messerly had been with Infinity Ward since its formation and previously worked at 2015 Inc. with ousted IW heads Jason West and Vince Zampella.  This puts the total number of departures from Infinity Ward (including West and Zampella) at 13, most of them being leads on the team that created Modern Warfare 2. Smart money is on most if not all of these developers joining up with Respawn Entertainment, following West and Zampella.

Just to see the devs of the franchise Activision is going to milk to death leave is funny. Plus I don't like Activision for any of their latest moves.. If they want to milk they should start a farm.

Grigsby and Zampella are gone? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
they're the only two names I recognise, lol

I wonder how they're going to pull the next CoD off with so many employees gone...

Call of Duty is just a money making franchise... They don't even support modern warfare 2... Every other server you join you will get a bad ping and bad hitreg and there is nothing you can do about it. Also let's not forget, the game takes no skill.

Call of Duty started off as a WWII game/series, but randomly became any shooting game in that style.  It's still fun to play (singleplayer anyway), but they probably should have called the modern warfares something else.  It would still have done well without the CoD branding.

The intention; but slap COD on the name and the hits literally tripled, just marketing.

I really am disappointed in these companies that use the franchise name do get more money, when the game has nothing to do with the franchise. Like Battlefield and Call of Duty. I hope Brothers in Arms doesn't get screwed up.

Battlefield feels weird now. I won't even get started on Call of Duty.

When you say battlefield, do you mean heroes and/or bad company1/2 and/or 1943?
but arent they keeping the regular battlefield (3) on pc and just adding the others?

Well, pretty much all of them. Tell me what you think about the issue but here's my view.

Battlefield was always about squad play, large map vehicle - infantry combat. It's always had this great feeling to it. Now with BC2 maps are small, there's no room for any aircraft or vehicles. It's more infantry oriented like Call of Duty.

Conquest is pretty much thrown out the window, it totally sucks. The only good map is Panama Canal because it's a bit big, but once again 90% infantry combat.

In Battlefield 2 I remember flying blackhawks full of infantry, we'd get to a flag and captured it in a few seconds, then fly to another rinse and repeat. When we'd find a tank I'd tell my friends to bail out and they'd go kill it, then I'd pick em up. Or we'd go M1A1 whoring together all as engineers.

In 2142 we still do amazing teamwork stuff, it's so fun, I still prefer it to BC2 now that I've got my BC2 fix.

well i dont want to get too off topic, but out of those ive only played bc1/2. i only got to play a couple of hours of bc2. i do agree that bc2 is closer to cod in ways but i think thats all a part of consolization.
as long as bf3 is back, or at least close, to the regular formula ill be happy.

while im not a fan of codmw/2 i do think most of the series were quality games from what i heard. havent played 1-3, refuse to play mw2 since judging by 4's campaign and 4/waw's online ill hate it. but cod4 seemed great for those who liked that style of play.
and yeah..like sisco said, with mw2 sales on their resume those who leave will be fine.

Well I hate consoles with a passion, I wish I didn't, it's not good to hate.

Anyway, I think the world of gaming will never be as good as it used to because of the introduction of consoles. When I have a family, I will ban anybody from having an Xbox or PS or whatever, I'll get em PCs instead. Consoles are the anti-christ for me

Anybody remember Novalogic? They had proper games coming out, did they go under or something?

Consoles used to be wonderful, it's the merging of consoles and PCs that is ruining the industry.

I'm perfectly happy with the CoD branding. I wouldn't have minded more factions in the WW2 ones, like China, Commonwealth nations other than UK, Dutch/Polish/French resistance, etc., but oh well. I would have even gone for "Call of Duty: Korea" "Call of Duty: The Six Day War," "Call of Duty: Soviet Afghanistan" or "Call of Duty: Vietnam."

What irritates me though is the confusing numbering they used. They messed up when they called "Modern Warfare 1" "Call of Duty 4." Of course, a WW2 game comes after it, so that gets "Call of Duty 5." Then "Modern Warfare 2" is "Call of Duty 6." So what happened to "Modern Warfare: Call of Duty 5?" They should plan for stuff like that waaaay ahead of development. Even with multiple timeline branches in the series, it's doable. Otherwise, just drop the numbering from Call of Duty altogether and only append it to the the subseries title.

It all may be a moot point now, with the dismal support for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." User-hosted servers are one thing, but chopping dedicated servers, even user-paid, was abominable. Unless the next CoD is completely revamped from its current exploitative state, I'm through.
