if you hadn't played since the last patch then you're just  getting the ranks coming to you since they lowered the rank requirements.
And if you just ranked up the same rank three times then yeah, that happens a lot because it takes a while for EA to recognize that you have changed ranks, so before the update your stats show you as being on the "verge" of getting ranked up each time the map resets.
