why was 27s art thread closed exactly considering it was an actual thread that could catalyse some serious discussion and debate?

ps all that kind of art is pretentious people being jerked off by even more pretentious people who believe that if they find something "inspiring" that other people don't that they are superior
tbh, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. accusations like that are a statement of ignorance, not a real evaluation
im talking from my experience, whenever i have met people who are trying to defend these pieces of art (some of them being people who work as critics or working in galleries) you ask them to explain what it is that they like about it and all of them just collapse in a sea of indecipherable muttering

i personally just think that these people being seen as viewed as highly as some of the great artists of all time is incorrect

well your personal opinion doesn't matter for shit because, as ive said, you have no idea what you're talking about

i am sorry that you have only met equally ignorant people that cannot substantiate an opinion on the topic

You have absolutely no idea whatsoever about how much i know about the subject, and im ever so sorry that i dont want to watch my tax money that i have worked for go to someone who painted a fucking room white as i feel that they are undeserving of it.

So as a certain member once said...

income-tax goes to artist commisions now? 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001%, if that. you could be just as incensed to get pissy over 'my tax money' going towards a whole load of other endeavours... ones proving more costly to you, personally, as well. post-modernist art is a reaction and rebellion against a lot of old principles, and i quite simply don't think you understand. sorry. "i spoke to art critics in a gallery". oh, great, okay. that just about settles that, then.

the reason i mentioned the tax part, is why the fuck should our money, no matter how small a percentage, go to artists? Its the principle as opposed to me caring about specifically what ratio of my money goes where, its just ridiculous. I don't get government money for what i do, neither do most people, and im pretty sure that most jobs help the country more than being an artist.  This just isn't something that firstly, tax should pay for, and then you get charged for again if you want to go and see it.

artists get commission and patronage for a very simple reason: they stuff they do is often donated and displayed in museums/exhibits. it's not for personal profit. a piece done on commission is not going to be bought by a private collector, making that artist millions off other people's fundings. the appreciation, finance-investment and reward is all recycled back into the 'public' system. that's not hard to understand, surely? plus, artists as the main promoters of a society's culture have a privileged, almost classical-era position: it's their job to record and capture the 'zeitgeist' and essence of the era in their works. for most governments/nations, this is worth the miniscule costs. some of our greatest public buildings, sculptures, attractions and works of art wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the wealthy's patronage or state/official sponsorship. if you don't see the benefits... you're a philistine and im wasting my time.

hey baggs. good day today . i missed an exam but i don't give a fuck, i can actually start rebuilding life now and sorting shit out. good feeling! irish, why the fuck would i answer your question? who are you, the inquisitor of my life? i'll share my personal details with who i want . . . sorry, im not the sort to come and project my failures to the world in public, expose-all threads. if you didn't catch it the first time, tough.

why are you asking about the cost of cocaine? and yeah mk, you're not a retard . . . making good progress on sharing my home town for your university experience. you're going to be living in a small-ass town that my group have lived in for 20 years. be a little more careful, yeah?
