QFT.

Have bought 2 EEE PC's 904 HD, one for mother and woman. They're great. Had I seen the Lenovo S10E though, I would've got it. On paper it looks awesome, Lenovo are a pretty reliable company too.

I vote either an Asus EEE or Lenovo S10.

One of the biggest +'s with the lenovo is that it is much easier to upgrade ram or HDD since it has a hatch on the back where other netbooks like the Acer One has to have the motherboard pulled through the keyboard to install ram O.o

My S10e came with 6cell (5hr) battery, I upgraded it to 2GB ram and 500GB 7200HDD and it's smooth sailing

Best netbook keyboard I've had my hands on

I have an EEE PC seashell, I got it for ~$390 + $20 for 2GB of RAM to upgrade myself about 9 months ago now.

It's great, long battery life, no complaints except the glossy surface that picks up fingerprints like no other. But really, that's not a big deal at all. The keyboard is good considering and I was surprised at the quality of the touchpad.

Why do you want 7?

Actually, the Lenovo has very unpleasantly loud fan that spins fast every once in a while. Battery also is pretty crappy and the screen isn't anything special either but still pay price premium for brand. Probably most durable out of all netbooks, but competition is fierce..

Had EEE PC 904HD and been using S10e Lenovos at work.

Lenovo does have simply put best "netbook" line, the X series, but those are way out of price range at >1000€.

I think EEE PCs feel cheap and poorly put together

They feel so flimsy compared to something like the Lenovo... even the Aspire One feels better put together imo

Haha I have used the Acer too and if that is any better than ASUS ones you must have tried some ancient crap EEE PC.

i'm looking at Acer Aspire One

@ FM, i want W7 cos i've been on XP for donkeys, really would like a change now.

I've been looking for a Lenovo locally, i would prefer to buy from my local PC World store, but i didn't see one earlier today. I think it's going to be the Acer, unless i can really do better for the money.

Thanks for all your input btw

To hell with the budget, get one of them new Nokias.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Not really...12" screen is perfect for a netbook IMO.

I have around 14" laptop. 13.3" laptops are not hard to find either.

You lose all the benefits of netbook (mobility).
