just curious if anybody else has any and if so how do you personally deal with them?

im bipolar, i was diagnosed about a year ago. Ive been to so many psychologists i cant even remember all of them and the rarely help. Ive been prescribed many different anti depressants and none of them work (i also hate taking pills regularly).  Lately, its been getting worse with the mood changes and the weird thoughts and rather odd dreams. I usually deal with it by reading or exercising.

so bf2s, if you have any and if so how do you deal with yours?

exercise helps low moods whether it's chemical or just circumstantial. better than all those weird mood balancers they put in you like a lab-rat.

I don't have any but my job (which I'm at right now) is a support worker for people with mental illness -- bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety disorder, dissasociative personality disorder (formerly multiple personality disorder), schizo-affective disorder, borderline personality disorder, etc. etc. etc.

Most of the people who stay here (respite house) are really cool and if you met half of them on the street you'd never know they had a mental illness.

There's so much stigma that goes along with mental illness even today, thanks in part to the media, especially in the case of schizophrenia. I think the stats are something like 0.001% of people who have schizophrenia are dangerously violent, and 1% of the poplulation has schizophrenia. So your chances of meeting a violent person with with schizophrenia are about 1,000,000:1

People could diagnose me with lots of shit that I don't believe in, in the sense that everybody is like that from time to time. Too much emphasis on diagnosing and labelling people rather than just accepting the reality that most people can be such and that it's actually rather 'normal'.

You ask a modern psychiatrist to describe a perfectly normal person and they'd implode.

I've got clinical depression, I deal with it with antidepressants and therapy. That's the winning combo, IMO. My therapist is simply amazing. The medicine helps keep my moods stable (mainly keeping me out of the deep lows) and in turn I'm more willing to open up about things, and the therapy provides a neutral, no-judgment place to talk about my problems with someone who's really good at pointing me in the right directions.

Yeah you guys and your meds and therapists is one thing I will always laugh at bf2s at. Just keep on doing that whilst trying to talk down on others all the time, haha. Pussies.

Ocd and severe depression.

I don't need a psychologist to tell me that the ocd is because I just like to be very clean and the other is a chemical imbalance.

this is exactly what i felt like (lab rat) when they kept putting me on all of those different meds, it wasnt a very good feeling.

and the combo of a psychologist +meds never worked for me really.

I just stay in the stable middle really. Having massively good and happy times means the come down of when something shit happens is amplified. I have some good times, live life and get my share of endorphins, but I don't dare venture into pure, natural and long lasting happiness.

This can be true, to a point, and not it all cases.

You ask a modern psychiatrist to describe a perfectly normal person and they'd implode.
Oh, I don't think so. Normal is simply no evidence or experience of what are considered "symptoms" in any long term or semi/permanent basis, or at least what training I've received through work has somewhat alluded to.

normality is the most threatening mental sickness, if you ask me

fuck that.

a mundane existence; i'd rather take schizophrenia. life is beautiful when it's turbulent. you learn and acquire nothing when it's easy.

My dads bipolar. My mams gone on holiday for 2 weeks and he's not taking his medication. He's gone completely nuts.

terrible disorder.

I tried to get him to take his pills but he attacked me and my sister. So we'll just leave it to him...

That's true. If you ask someone if 20 years after they die anyone will care and if after 30 years anyone will remember it makes them think.
