You don't go into a debate trying to 'win'
lol but that is exactly what you are trying to do, because it is judged. Their competitive nature saps any sort of productiveness out of them. You win by reading a
lot of information, and regurgitating at a furious pace.
I knew a debate kid that won enough state tournaments to go to New York, that is how he won. He read an obscene amount of sources with his trusty highlighter in hand, and then talked at a break-neck pace to get through it all. Every single debate kid I have seen go at it talked at a stupid pace, trying to get out ~5 points in a two minute span instead of pushing the good points and letting logic do the talking.

I personally don't care how you view the forum or my disregard for a particular section. You can idolize this place as a microcosm of real-life all you want but that doesn't make it so.
As if the forum isn't made up of a bunch of people behind computer screens. The internet
is real life. It is one of the many facets that make up modern day life. It isn't some sort of parallel universe.
You patronize it because it's "cool" to do so. Despite the fact that you come back to the same forum for hundreds of days and thousands of posts. You aren't better than it, you are it.
