EDIT- Segway, upon a moment of thought, was even better than this piece of crap. It could handle at least some difficult terrain, while this pile looks like it's barely managing on a smooth floor indoors.

Well, let's see, this balances on a single point on its own, the Segway doesn't balance in the same fashion at all. The Segway detects how much you are forcing a deviation away from its rest state and adjusts the throttle accordingly, making it "balance" only because the speed is coordinated with your tilt. This is freestanding on its own. The difference is blatant if you just actually look at the two and how they are used.
Self-adjustment is one of the most important technologies in developing robots to be used in dynamic, every-day ways.
