what are the benefits of running android versus win7?
Simpler and faster - the cons will be a much, much longer list.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

The cons are essentially the same ones as they are for the iPad, except people won't be bitching about it because we're not forced into using Android, we can choose to if we want to.Bertster7 wrote:

can I run MS office on Android and edit documents?
Im not sure about that, but i would say no for MS office. editing.... maybe.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I tried this out on my laptop with android installed to flash drive. (sony vaio, core2 @ 2.4ghz, ati video) and couldn't get wireless working. also android crashed after about 5 minutes everytime. They say though its been tested and working on netbooks.
It was kind of cool to see it running on laptop. its got the multiple slide desktops like on the phone. the gui colors looked kind of dull tho for some reason.
There is app on the android market to edit to office docs. Not sure I would lean on it heavilyKEN-JENNINGS wrote:

See to me it's not cool unless it actually does something better than the current OS i'm running. If it beats that in areas I need then I'm all for it. If not it's just a gimmick for mindless android fanboys.signa wrote:

right now, I'd say its still in the gimmick category. if you want something cool to play with try Mint 9, or peppermint linux from a flash drive.
I don't think anyone would suggest that its a replacement for a for a Windows Desktop, especially when some level of productivity is involved.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Except that the iPad was never designed to compete with netbooks. It's not the same sort of device. It's more of a toy than a tool.TheDonkey wrote:

On top of that you have the issue of the interface to consider. For touchscreen using a traditional OS interface is not necessarily a good idea.
It's a silly comparison. Now if Apple were releasing iOS4 for all Macs - that would be a much better comparison.
