sounds more like an ISP problem than a PC problem

I also use an X2 and it seems to me that it helps to change affinity for the CPU since it is dual core. I simply fire up BF2 and wait for the logon-screen. Then I alt-tab to the desktop and open the taskmanager. I right-click on BF2.exe in the process list and choose "Set affinity". Then I un-check CPU1.

I am not saying it will solve your problem for sure but it seems to have solved it for me. And since you wont really get any extra performance from the second core in-game anyways, you might as well give it a try.

Like madsmao said. It has to do with the dual core. There's a tool around so that you can set it once and not have to do it everytime you start BF2. Search the forums here, it's been said before. I think it was imageCFG or something.
