I haven't had to use my PIN number since like a year ago when I first made my bank account, and now I can't remember it and I'm trying to go to a gun show this weekend. Is there anything I can do to get it online or do I have to talk to someone at my bank? My bank is SunTrust btw
Try calling the number on the back of the card. They may require you to answer several questions to make sure you are the cardholder.
...
ask your bank generally. mine were wankers and i ended up having to get a new pin sent out, but i could still withdraw cash from a branch with proof of ID in the meantime.

You need it by this weekend? Good luck.
Most of the time they'll just send you a new card altogether that you'll have to activate, and send you your PIN separately a few days later.

Just go to the bank. Easy and painless. Once you are properly identified, you just put your card into that cardreader and you put in a new PIN.

With Swiss cards, you can change your PIN at any ATM. Doesn't even need to belong to your bank. With German cards, you're stuck with what you have. If you forget it, you'll need a new card. Things may be different in the US though

A: No you can't.

I always thought it would make sense to pick a point on the card number (ie after the first break, or after the 8th number or w/e) and then use the next 4 digits.
Never done it, but seems like an easy way to remember the numbers if you have more than one card for example.

anyone should be able to remember 4 random numbers.

It's also a great way to lose a lot of money if someone gets a hold of your card.PrivateVendetta wrote:

But how would they know where you started? or that you even used numbers from the card?
It's not like you kept it with a little piece of paper with only 4 numbers on, the card has about 45.

Around here, cards have 4 blocks of 4 numbers. Guessing any 4 of those numbers sequentially, or birthdays, or digits of SSNs, or home address numbers, partial zip codes, it's all so obvious.
Remembering 4 random numbers is not difficult at all, especially if you use them consistently (consistently being more than once in your lifetime)

We're allowed to have more than 4 numbers, at least for BofA. Easy to remember when the numbers make a combination of words and numbers.max wrote:

OK the blocks of 4 might be a little bit obvious, but even so, you only get 3 chances to guess what they used, when you might try their birthday etc. If you had unlimited goes, you would probably guess it sooner than 4 random numbers I admit. But you could also read the digits for the PIN from the 3rd number along the card number for every card, then each card would be different, and you would only have to remember where to read from.mtb0minime wrote:

It's obviously not so easy if so many people forget their PINs, especially if you have a different card you use just occasionally or something.

Furthermore, if you have to read your PIN off the card to remember it, what happens when you come across an ATM that sucks the card in (as opposed to swiping)???
Look before you put it in
I've never had a problem remembering, but I guess shortening the odds of someone finding your number isn't good in any sense.

brute force, a 4 digit pin should take 1-2 hours
Good luck with that when you have 3 chances to get it right.HaiBai wrote:

We're allowed 4-6 numbers, never saw anyone with 6 digits though.Ilocano wrote:
