At least you're honest.

Sorry, I worded the thread title wrong. It should have been, "If you like Hardstyle.." "Then you might like this" (which just from reading the thread the majority of you think hardstyle is shit. So I wouldn't expect you to like this genre either).
If you have ever been to a party that has been playing hardstyle you'll know that the constant thomping bass gets old after a while. This new "dubstyle" is not meant to be a new genre or even a spin-off of Dubstep. It really has nothing to do with dubstep. The only real relation between the two is the slower tempo of 130-148 BPM. Where normal hardstyle is played at a higher tempo of 150-160 BPM. With regular hardstyle, the real only "break" that you would get from the bass would be the melody. With dubstyle as it's been called, you get a chance to "chill" with a slowed down bassline which is a nice change to the normally fast and heavy bassline. I've been there when artist have dropped some of these tracks, and the way the crowd reacts to the slowed down tempo is amazing. Which is why more and more artist are starting to introduce it into their hardstyle sets.
And I never thought I was "cool" for listening to this type of music. If anything I thought I was an outsider and this thread just proved that by the hostility you guys hold towards this genre of music and the people that listen to it.
Vancouver has a very "hard" rave scene that I have been apart of for two years now. The music that is played on mainstage is generally hardstyle. This is the type of music that I and thousands of others enjoy. If you don't enjoy it, then simply stay out of the thread.
I would not expect anyone that isn't a party goer to enjoy this music. This is party music, and unless you've been to a all night dance event that has played hardstyle then you most likely won't like it, and won't understand why others like it.
It's guess its just an acquired taste of music.

All te big names play at these festivals such as Brennan Heart, Headhunterz, Tatanka, Luna, The Prophet, Wildstylez etc. Gooogle them, I'm sure it's what you're looking for.

Yes, I know all about those parties. I've seen all of those artist play live expect for Tatanka. My favorite was The Prophet. I had a chance to talk with him and he said our scene is just like in Holland, expect not quite the size.Engineer_Fox wrote:

We just recently took a road trip down to Hollywood, California in July to see Wildstylez & JDX play.
Me and a few of my buddies have plans within the next year or two to save up money and take a trip to holland for one of those events. Most likely Qlimax or DefQon 1. Haven't decided if we want to attend a large indoor or outdoor event.
A DJ from my highschool got a chance to play at one of the side stages at this years DefQon 1 in Holland. His name is Atmozfears. Maybe you know of him?

@ LT.Victim
I never heard that name drop here, might because of the fact that I barely attend Hardstyle parties nowadays, it's too commercial in my eyes where it was a kind of a underground scene about 5 years ago. I mostly attend Hardcore parties.

by the way NOTHING pisses me off more nowadays than all you 'coolkids', completely or at least relatively new to electronic music, calling anything with a bassline 'dubstep'. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DUBSTEP DRUM-RHYTHM, BPM/RPM, DRUM-SAMPLE, MUSICAL CHARACTERISTIC OR PROPERTY WHATSOEVER in ANY of those songs. having a hard-bassline does not magically make things DUBSTEP. dubstep is a very precise musical term for a genre that has, admittedly, come into mainstream popularity and gained wider public recognition recently.
cf. clueless newbies above referencing mt. eden and skream. congrats, you can type 'dub-steppe' into YouTube.
