I did a little research and it seems like the radeon 9200 was never supported in battlefield 2. I got this from the EA games website after going to their support site and typing in 9200 in the search box. I guess it took untill this patch to actually show it. Sorry guys, but if ATI dosen't fix this, which might take a month or so you are probably just going to have to upgrade. Just start saving money to upgrade your video cards. I've been through this with other games and I do feel your pain.
Here is the link that shows it. http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/ph … _topview=1

GUYS only download the incremental one if you have the 1.12 or else download the full. Maybe the problem here are your drivers. i just downloadd the new Nvidia one and it works. my sepcs aren't great either: xp 3200, 512 ram. i mean i get lag for the first minute (but that was before the patch) but everything after that is smooth.
That sucks for you guys better start saving some money for an NVIDIA card...lolwlater12 wrote:

my god why the hell was it working before and now it doesnt it does not make sense they did not change graphics all they added was the uav thing
I noticed that too Ziggy. Before I bought the game I checked to see if it was supported but it wasn't, I just assumed 9200 was part of the 8500 'series' as it says.
I've got a Pentium 4 that's 4 years old. I've been thinking of getting a new 'gamers' computer or whatever, you know, so do you think I should get an Nvidia graphics card before I get a new pc?
I'm not familiar with vid cards so if someone can tell me what a good Nvidia card would be as a replacement for a 9200. Again, my computer is old and clunky and it needs to be able to support it. Thanks for any help.

@Chase what Nvidia card do you have, I have the 5200fx.
Dang at least you guys could get into the game. I installed the patch, try to start the game. The screen goes blank like before but then it just kicks me back to desktop.
I've checked and searched the EA forums and found other people that have the same problem as me. There is also a radeon ati thread for you guys too. This really sucks big time. I was so looking forward to this day. I'm going to try and download the full three hundred file and patch the game from scratch hopefully that works. If that doesn't work I guess it's time for a graphics card upgrade.

Upgrade.......
Yeah, I'd have to say I agree. I mean, we were playing on borrowed time anyway, seeing as the game didn't even support 9200s in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I'm fucked off at EA and a new card will cost a fair amount, but that's just our luck
If it were not the fact that BF2 is a superb game, maybe even the best game I've ever played, there is no way in hell I would be attempting to upgrade just for EA.
EA owes us BIG time people, this is yet another patch in which they have made serious errors. EA does not deserve our support, but they don't really care do they? They could have at the very least said "If you are running a card that does not legitimately support BF2, than this patch will seriously fuck you up".

Spearhead here are some good cheap video cards that you can get to replace your 9200 that will work in your current system.

And if you want to spend a bit more you can get this which will give you a lot better performance.

You could also go for a Radeon 9600XT which are in the $90 U.S. range or a Radeon 9800Pro which is around $120 they will also work with battlefield 2. Now be aware that these are online prices and you will pay about 50% to 75% more at a retail shop. These are great cards compared to the 9200 though.

I'm lookin mainly at the GeForce 6600...
Just makin sure,
My Pentium 4 is not impressive. At all. I bought it from a cheap Dell bundle and it is 2.0 GHz
Zigg I trust ya man but I wanna make sure my system can handle it.. if yes I'll head out to bestbuy this weekend and pick up a GeForce 6600...

Spearhead, do you have an AGP 8x motherboard or is it just 4x?
If its just 4x you might have problems with the newer cards. Ill explain.

to be honest with you, I'm not sure at the moment. I'll look around for it and I'll post tomorrow
Ok people I'm in the same ATI boat as the rest of us.
I have a radeon 9000 though.
Played fine untill the 1.2 patch
I got both of my patches from
ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/
Straight from EA I too tried the incremental first, with the same no buildings, 3 frames per second frame rate.
I re-downloaded the full patch (7 hours...) un-installed everything, updated my video card drivers, changed my agp bios apiture size, re-installed BF2, BF2_SF then the full 1.2.exe patch and still no joy.
Hate to say it guys but were all screwed.
Either with for updated drivers (do you think ATI will reall ywork on new drivers for old assed cards? - I don't) or start looking for a new (used - Ebay?) video card.
Damn.
Will keep a close eye on this thread and others and will post when we see a (hopefull) fix.
