- Some of the most ridiculous stuff I've ever seen on a skateboard
but it has more of a pervasive 'lifestyle' and 'culture' about it than, say, football or golf
it's not ludicrous to identify someone as a 'skater' or a 'surfer'... but you wouldn't see someone in the street and say "he's a golfer".

He's got some sweet skills ... one legged manual and manual on two boards, nice
Wait behind the line ..............................................................
Golf is just as much of a lifestyle for those who take it seriously, my brother golfs almost everyday hes off work, you can definately spot his golf garb from his skate/snow garb.Uzique wrote:

If a guy isn't carrying a skateboard around, hes alot harder to identify as a skater. You skate in urban areas, so your more likely to see a skater walking around with a skate, than a golfer carrying a golf bag.
edit: sorry if sounds a bit garbled, I haven't had my morning coffee yet.

skating and surfing have casual fashions that are worn every single day. there is a music taste, a social clique, a haircut, an everything about skating, i.e. it is a lifestyle. people don't walk down the high-street in their golf shoes with a caddie following them. it's completely different. hard to explain and qualify using words. you can just tell a bunch of skaters when you see them in public places. if i saw 5 middle-aged men i couldn't tell you by plain sight recognition that they play golf on saturdays.

Skateboarding is a sport that has a culture, not a culture that has a sport. There are lots of different dress types in skateboarding from baggy fit stuff, to hipster clothing, to metal inspired clothing.
How old are you, because I had the feeling it was my generation,(not to play the we started this/ you started this game) and I always figured you had 20 or so years on me. Btw the X games was only good for the first couple of years, and then totally lost the plot.11 Bravo wrote:

Teenagers tend to dress for their sport/culture, middle-aged adults don't.
Isn't that a simpler explanation?
On topic: Thats some impressive skating, and great filming.
