I am trying to figure out why on earth my pc is running bf2 so slow. I have a

3.2 intel P4
2GB Corsair XMS Ram
160 SATA HD
XFX 7800 GS AGP

I just installed the video card and RAM today. I am running in medium detail and get no more than 30 fps. What GIVES?

I have the same CPU speed as you and half the memory.

Check to see what your hyperthreading is set to. There's a slight mystery to it and sometimes it's better left off in the BIOS.

Lastly, make sure you have enough power as when I unplug the power to my video card it chumps up the graphics and it's barely playable. Hope that helps...

I flashed my bios upped the AGP apeture to 256 and turned of Hyper Threading. We will see if that helps. I have a 500w PSU.

Hopefully that fixes it. Any input at all is appreciated.

THanks.

I have a P4 2.8 ,1 gig ram with xfx Geforce 7800 gs extreme edition and I also can only get a similar performance to my 6600 gt , although the 7800 benches much better in practice the fps are only the same but the whole game feels chunky with the 7800.

The supplier has agread to take card back but I would sooner keep it if I can get the expected performance from it.

My system:

Pentium 4 3.4Ghz HT, 2 Gb RAM(PC4300), Abit Fatality mobo, PCIex 6800GT 256MB overclocked, Audigy 2 ZS sound card and a RAID 0 hard drive array giving 300GB. I run BF2 with all graphical options set at high plus 4 sample AA. No probs and I load in 1 min, sometimes faster. Res 1280*1024

I think maybe the AGP socket is holding you back. A new mobo with this feature + graphics card is maybe the way forward. I can definitely recommend RAID 0. You need two hard drives but it is super fast.
