burnzz, you said you ended up on the streets in the past, what happened with you? I'm noticing a trend of smart people crashing and burning in their lives in this thread.

Btw, this is a much better version of H/J's resume thread

at 17 i ran away from home, lived on a beach near LA one summer, and eventually made it to my hometown (San Diego). i tried to enlist (my senior year was the first year of Selective Service reg, 1983) with the marines, but i'm 4-F. blind in one eye. wish the eye chart was before meeting the world's longest finger . . .

i didn't agree with the religious views my parents held, and looked to make my own way in the world. Today i'm in IT (self-taught) with a civil engineer, and along the way i've compiled an impressive record with authorities, but no STD's.

i guess i missed out once again. i've enjoyed my life, and think that there are individual educators that have made a difference (see the edward james olmos movie) and realize it's not all bad that my wife can't have children. i may not see my boy hit a home run, but i won't see him fucked over either . . .

Man, if I found out I couldn't have kids I'd do the Bear Grylls thing without a safety net. Not saying I'd be suicidal, just that I could be as risky and thrill seeking as I wanted to be without consequences.

It made you uncomfortable to try and list your accomplishments in public, I apologize. I was taking the thought someplace new and unfamiliar to you. You behave so much better in a large group, moving in the same direction, made up of people with similar if not identical opinions.A herd if you will. You throw that word around so freely as you do other insults. Yet I am here alone in my opinion. It fits you better and really sticks. That is some thing you must address on your own.

PS Even the possibility that there could be a female here makes some people rabid.
Your only comfortable with your own gender. Be patient, that usually abates in your teen years.

Till then " Don't pick up the soap ! "

better ? there there !

I would have been marginally impressed if you ran away in the winter.

PS when your 17 its not called " Running away "

Smart ! but didn't think there would be a physical.

Try substituting ( smart ) with ( Know it Alls ) and see if it gets any clearer to you.

Man did I want to throw italics in there.

find somewhere warm, learn to sleep supine (if you don't already), be willing to work for a meal, and make the best of every situation. alot of the people i met weren't homeless by choice and running away from home. the one thing they had in common was a matter of fact outlook without blaming anyone or anything, they just always thought about what they needed to do next. to survive.
