Well i'll be getting my own minecraft server here in a week.  Its going to vanilla minecraft with no mods and a whitelist.  I'm not to happy with the fact that every time minecraft updates I have to wait for mods to be released.

I go with Multiplay as aparently one of their Minecraft team is on the dev team for bukkit, so there's always info about what's going on.

Also, after a new patch, it's usually a few hours/a day before they release a working vanilla version with their own little wrapper thing (for Clanforge usage), so when a new patch is out, I revert my server to a vanilla version until bukkit and it's plugins update.

So basically, playing without plugins for that reason sucks Plugins make this game so much better than it already is, IMO

Yea, i'm going with them.  To be honest we(NLG) already have one with them, but we are not getting VPS to run that and teamspeak on.  So i'm going to rent the Minecraft server out of my own pocket.  I also like Vanilla Minecraft for more than just not wanting to deal with mods.  I like Minecraft as is.  Grant I wish some things worked without mods, but you can't have it all.  BTW, we are STILL waiting for mod updates for the 1.5 and 1.5_01.  Also, a little birdy told me that 1.5_2 is coming  very soon.

1.5_2 is a server only patch.

I was hoping for Bukkit to be updated tonight, but they are taking their time this time

Yea, i'm hoping to have it up soon.  I'm going to import a single player map I have.  I did "winter" in the seed generator.  It generated a snow map.  I love snow.

AFAIK, you don't get to use seed names for multiplayer servers, but that's a good idea to import a singleplayer world...

I created a world with the seed 'Achievements' (sans-quotes). Immediately found myself staring at an epic pile of surface-level coal with a pack of wolves staring me down. Crazy tunnels nearby, too.

I'm using build 707, working fine if you're in a rush.

Dunno if it has been posted here, but I´m quite enjoying the Yogscast´s Minecraft vids. Freakishly funny. Thought I´d share:

Jens was working on integrating/tweaking the Piston mod, which will probably get delayed as a result of this. We don’t want to just add it as-is because it doesn’t quite feel “fantasy” enough, and there’s a lot of corner cases we need to solve.

Last week, I started playing around with minimaps, and Vraket from Oxeye games took some interest in it. We played around with it for a while, and it kinda got more and more ambitious as we went. Now it’s a proper mapping tool! You make a map, and it starts out empty. As you move around, you fill in parts of the map automatically (as long as the map is being held). You can give the map to other people and they will see what you’ve explored on there, and it’s quite possible you will even be able to magically “link” two maps so they’re the same map. That means you will be able to see where other people who carry the same map are.

Im a lil QQ about the piston delay, but the maps sound promising

I'm still waiting on the damn DNS transfer to our groups VPS.  Then I can take over the multiplay minecraft server.

On the temp server I have setup.  We managed to dig a VERY long tunnel and place tracks down with boosters.  You need several boosters in the beginning or it will have it a very slow start to it.  At least they found another use for gold.

Partial aircraft carrier. Amazing how big to-scale stuff looks in minecraft.

We just started are dual mine track system.  We have just finished the first 2 stations and planing on build a new station every few days from this point on.  I'll take some screens or make a video if any of you are interested!

Part of the fun is in building the drydock itself. Will set up three minor cranes and a big dual-track overhead one. As soon as I put in the rest of the ribs, I'll lower the behemoth into the giant drained pit.

Movecraft is great for moving giant things you're building a few blocks into the right place. I assume you use movecraft, anyway.

WorldEdit. Clone it somewhere, then move it down and delete the clone if all's good. It's the only sane way to build something like this. Of course, anything that's not a straight angle has to be manually added.

Only sane way? Are you blind?

Movecraft. You can move any structure not connected to the ground on-the-fly.

Meh, kinda looks clumsy. This ship is too big to move around well in any body of water (or even the air) on creative.incredicraft, and I can put it where I want in one command anyway. And where it's lowered, it'll probably stay. Cut/paste is just fine.

Plus, I've seen shit flying off of structures with movecraft. I don't want to lose any redstone circuitry I might install.

//expand 250 e
//expand 32 d
//copy
//paste (somewhere else, in case something messes up)
//move 10 d
select backup and //set 0 (delete)

...and done.

I've read up on movecraft before.

It's pretty good, but it's not what we want.

I suggest you look up WorldEdit. It's incredibly powerful.

I've looked into it, but it seems too much for what I need.

Plus I'm gathering all materials naturally on this world run-through, so C and V would ruin that

Probably gonna start a world on this one day:
