China is extremely good at producing things efficiently and cheaply. They're not so good at the design phase.
Case in point: most furniture sold in America is now being manufactured in China. Almost all of it is still designed in America or Europe, however.
In general, America still is very good at engineering -- whether it's being done by native born Americans or by immigrants.
So, you could say that some of our innovation comes from the Chinese, but most of their innovators have chosen to immigrate here (or somewhere else in the First World) rather than stay in China.

Australia has a huge immigration population recently after they removed teh white australia policy.

The second chart isn't annual in percentage either, but again, seeing the cumulative percentage is interesting as well. I guess when I was thinking of Canada, I was recollecting a chart showing annual immigration for OECD countries.
I had totally forgotten just how much immigration is happening in the UAE. Granted, some of that just involves migrant labor that is temporary. I didn't realize Switzerland and Australia had so many immigrants too.

We had a Ton of Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants coming down from Canada. It was a big problem for a while. Asians assimilate faster than other immigrants and seem to pose less of an economic strain. It just seemed that the southern border problem has pushed it out of the head lines with all the attendant drugs, Crime, Kidnapping, Rape and Rape Trees.
