Hi all

I need some help here

1. Is 1.41 the latest? If not, what is the latest + where can I download it?

2. I could connect to the internet....but in the box where all the servers are supposed to be, I cannot see a single server lol...so basically the server list is empty =\ I want to play

Depending on your router there may be some port forwarding/triggering to set up, and you need the right patch.
Either of these could explain why you're not seeing any maps.

You need patch 1.5 - bad news is its a 1.9 GB download.

Or run a search for 'BF2_Patch_1.50.exe' and with luck you'll find a reasonably local server with it on.

Even with it all set up 'right' I still can't see many maps, some problem with my firewall (so I turn the hardware firewall off), compare what you can see with what is showing at game monitor.

You should be able to see some servers even with 1.41.

Guys, I also have installed 1.41, however my patch in-game still says :1.1-2965-757 something like that, is this normal?

Are you sure you really installed 1.41?

Are you sure you're in multiplayer mode? Have you created a player?

If you can't see ANYTHING then it could be a port forwarding issue.

I still got servers on patch 1.4 when 1.5 was up

it was one karkand, one wake island both of which were 63/64 most of the time.

I thought that was ALL the servers on BF2 for a while...

Read your BF2 manual, you need to set up your modem/router correctly or you won't be able to play online.

Ok...im going to read the manual

Now though a new problem. I downloaded the HUGE 2 gb 1.5 patch, and when I tried running it...well... it says something like

"An error (-5004 : 0x80070005) has occured while runnign the setup.

Please make sure you haev finisehd any previous setup and closed other applications. If it still occurs contact EA"

Sigh.... help me >_<

Your firewall is probably blocking access. Also, did you restart your pc?

Ok guys I got it ...finally can see the servers..

However, they all seem to be high ping...is there anyway to sort them by region? I mean, in steam I can see Australian only...or America only...etc.

Here they are all mixed apparently, and is there any way to see only australian server?

EDIT: JEEZ, and when I tried joining a low-ping one it says my cd-key not valid....sigh I still remember the day I bought this....its original! How cna my cd-key be invalid?

OR

if it doesnst say cd key invalid, then it would say "failed to connect, please check your network etc..."

Ok I am starting to get tired just to play this game...I researched a lot in google and when they say to go to regedit etc, they say to find a value named x9392 etc etc etc etc....but mine is empty, absolutely blank, cannot even find the x9392...

Gosh Im tired lol

For your invalid CD key, you might try going into your ..\BF2\Support directory.
You should find an .exe file there named something like Battlefield 2_code.exe.
(I don't have the game installed at the moment, so I don't know the exact file name.)

When running this, you'll get presented with a CD key enter form (similar to the one you get during installation), which will restore the CD key hash in your registry.
Note:
Once you launch this, your previous CD key hash will get erased, so make sure you have your key at hand to enter it.

For your other issues, I can only give you the proper installation order, in case you did anything wrong:

BF2 (or Deluxe/Complete Collection)
SF (optional)
1.41 full client patch
1.50 full client patch
1.50 Alt-Tab hotfix (optional)

So which country are you in?

You can sort by ping, just hit the ping icon.

Port forwarding and router setup seems to be a bit of an art, which router do you have?

But be careful what you click, hit "Click here to skip this advertisement... " in the top right corner at the appropriate moment.

You also need to set all the checkboxes correctly at the bottom of the multiplayer screen to get the right servers, eg 'Same version' and 'Punkbuster', which reminds me, its worth manually updating your Punkbuster thing, this should do it for you http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

Even with port forwarding set correctly I can typically only 'see' half the available servers, the only solution for me is to turn the router firewall off.
Compare what you can see with what is showing at game-monitor.

As for the CD key, no idea, contact EA.
