I've been seeing a lot of yes and nos about that on Google searches and I figure it may have changed over the years as the XBox has received updates and maybe someone would know for sure.

I'm thinking about getting this for my uncle:

But I don't really see the point if it's not going to support the full resolution of his TV.  He already has 1080p through component but I can see some fuzziness probably just because it's component, and the 1080i picture coming in through HDMI from his FiOS box is a lot clearer.  His XBox is the very first generation that didn't have an HDMI port so the best he could possibly do is VGA.

CRT monitors can pull 2560x1600 through VGA, I don't see why not.

Well, it's not so much the cable being able to support it, as the XBox(or maybe TV) allowing it.

I've seen from some places that the VGA cable doesn't do 1080p on the 360 and from other places I've read that it does.  Trying to see if I can get a straight answer

It's messy. My mate tried it once. The colours looked pretty much the same as component @ 1080.

I have a newer version xbox.. got it about 2 months ago.. Has hdmi, very clear.
