- Dick Cheney will laugh at bribery charges
I'm sure he isn't very worried, but if Nigeria can provde hard evidence, could he be tried in an american court? Doesn't american law forbid bribery even when its a foreign official?

Bribery is most definitely a prosecutable offense, so yes, it is possible that Cheney could be convicted and could go to prison.EVieira wrote:

It depends on a lot of factors. William Jefferson was sentenced to 13 years of jail for his corruption, and it involved bribery of foreign officials.DBBrinson1 wrote:

My roommate is from Nigeria.
Says the place is a shithole. Not that anyone didn't really know that from the beginning. He actually knew the Christmas Day bomber too.

Are you saying an American not in Nigeria should be more concerned about charges brought on by the FBI than by Nigeria?Kmar wrote:

Well, if Nigerian authorities contacted American authorities, and the evidence and case matched our standards, wouldn't we be obligated to extradite Cheney if they convicted him?Kmar wrote:

The thought of Dick Cheney in a Nigerian prison is extremely hilarious.
Do we have an extradition agreement with Nigeria? I'm willing to bet we don't.Turquoise wrote:
