So.......
I see no difference between the Bush years and Obama. Will he be re-elected?

He could definitely use it to drum up support come election time. Maintain support from the dedicated Dems and win over people who might be on the fence by saying "Hey, I fulfilled a campaign promise."CC-Marley wrote:

Homos and the people who like them vote democrat anyway. Repelling DADT would just alienate some moderates who he has to appeal to.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

Remember that most people don't remember the past as much.
That is a scary thought.Macbeth wrote:

How so? They're already here and are, overall, a benefit to the economy.CC-Marley wrote:

some people think it'd be a good to spend tons of money on trying to send every single illegal back to where they came fromMacbeth wrote:

Their low wages keep prices down on a lot of things, mainly raw materials.11 Bravo wrote:

well, it makes the rich...richer.
illegals do these jobs not because americans wont do them....they do them because they do it for slave labor costs. hence making the rich richer. benefit my ass.
Because out of 12 million, 99.9% of those that do end up voting will vote D, which I am not. Scarey to me.Macbeth wrote:

my point is the gap between rich and poor has never been larger in this country than it is now....well since the great depression.Macbeth wrote:

Judging from some of the people on this forum you don't think this is some truth to the "Americans think they're too good to scrub toilets at the local pizza place'' thing? Can you imagine Camm or Finray scrubbing a toilet or working a 12 hour break less shift for minimum wage? I know neither of them are Americans but our country is full of people with their sort of mentality.
Anyway, I'm sure there are some jobs they take away from Americans because of their ability to work for scraps, but most of those would have been outsourced or closed if it wasn't for very low wage workers like illegals.
I do think the border should be closed and we should get a guest worker program which ignores the minimum wage and most taxes. But I don't think all illegals should GTFO ASAP. There are a lot of very hardworking ones who put your typical American to shame when it comes to work ethic.
Let's be honest here, most of won't vote. Americans especially minorities don't vote.CC-Marley wrote:

Did you read what he said? He said just because they've got amnesty it doesn't mean they'll have the right to vote.CC-Marley wrote:

Then its a win-win scenario. The illegals get richer, because minimum wage in the US is allot to them, and the legal rich get richer. Plus, you get your toilets at pizza places scrubbed. So why waste money to send them back?11 Bravo wrote:

all these illegals and farming low skill IT jobs to india is NOT because americans wont/cant do it....its because it makes the rich more rich.
It's not a win scenario for the poor left behind.EVieira wrote:

its not a win for the 10 million legal americans without jobs.EVieira wrote:
