So.......

I see no difference between the Bush years and Obama.  Will he be re-elected?

Unless the economy really picks up in the next two years, or he finally does something landmark (like repealing DADT), probably not. Also depends on who the Thugs put up to run against him.

I pray that a repeal of DADT is not worthy for a re-election on it's own.

He could definitely use it to drum up support come election time. Maintain support from the dedicated Dems and win over people who might be on the fence by saying "Hey, I fulfilled a campaign promise."

Remember that most people don't remember the past as much.

Homos and the people who like them vote democrat anyway. Repelling DADT would just alienate some moderates who he has to appeal to.

In any case, it it depends entirely on who the GOP puts against him. Obama would massacre a Palin or Huckabee. A Pataki or Christie would be able to defeat Obama.

How so? They're already here and are, overall, a benefit to the economy.

some people think it'd be a good to spend tons of money on trying to send every single illegal back to where they came from

Their low wages keep prices down on a lot of things, mainly raw materials.

Judging from some of the people on this forum you don't think this is some truth to the "Americans think they're too good to scrub toilets at the local pizza place'' thing? Can you imagine Camm or Finray scrubbing a toilet or working a 12 hour break less shift for minimum wage? I know neither of them are Americans but our country is full of people with their sort of mentality.

Anyway, I'm sure there are some jobs they take away from Americans because of their ability to work for scraps, but most of those would have been outsourced or closed if it wasn't for very low wage workers like illegals.

I do think the border should be closed and we should get a guest worker program which ignores the minimum wage and most taxes. But I don't think all illegals should GTFO ASAP. There are a lot of very hardworking ones who put your typical American to shame when it comes to work ethic.

Because out of 12 million, 99.9% of those that do end up voting will vote D, which I am not. Scarey to me.

my point is the gap between rich and poor has never been larger in this country than it is now....well since the great depression.

all these illegals and farming low skill IT jobs to india is NOT because americans wont/cant do it....its because it makes the rich more rich.

Let's be honest here, most of won't vote. Americans especially minorities don't vote.

And even if they did- 12 million spread out across a country of 300-350 million people would have minimal consequences on local and national elections. They are also mostly clustered in Democrat strongholds anyway.

Also amnesty doesn't mean citizenship.

All depends on who the Republicans put up.

If they put up someone half way decent, there's no way he gets elected.

Still holding out for Scott Brown.

Did you read what he said? He said just because they've got amnesty it doesn't mean they'll have the right to vote.

Then its a win-win scenario. The illegals get richer, because minimum wage in the US is allot to them, and the legal rich get richer. Plus, you get your toilets at pizza places scrubbed. So why waste money to send them back?

It's not a win scenario for the poor left behind.

Ultimately, what we really need to do is better educate our workforce so that they aren't competing for shit jobs.  We could have a legally imported workforce for shitty work, while our own poor could get the education necessary to have more skilled jobs.

Until that happens, we've got too much of a surplus of poor to let all these illegals in.
