Earlier today, while I was playing WoW, my screen just started to artifact and my computer restarted and even after the restart, everything was still messed up.  I turned off my computer and then turned it back on after a few minutes, and everything worked fine again.  I thought it was some freak occurrence, so I started playing WoW again.  Within 10 minutes, the screen started artifacting again and my computer froze, so I restarted it.

Then I downloaded the latest DirectX and uninstalled and reinstalled all of my drivers.

Hoping it was fixed, I tried to play WoW again, but within 5 minutes, the screen starting artifacting and it froze again.  I don't know what to do now.

I was using GPU-Z to monitor my temperatures while I was playing, the second I saw artifacting I hit alt+f4.  Here's the max temperatures that were recorded:

Turn off automatic restart in System Properties -> Startup and Recovery and see if it BSODs on a related file.

Also Memtest.

Does it artifact/distort the text in your BIOS or when you boot up, before getting into Windows?

that's the first helpful post - i'll follow up with "have you changed any hardware recently?".

Ran Memtest overnight, no errors.

The earliest artifacting I saw was during the Windows XP loading screen:

Nope.

Anyway, the cause of the BSOD was:

Code:

nv4_mini.sys Sat Oct 16 12:50:37 2010 (4CB9D7DD)
nv4_disp.dll Sat Oct 16 12:48:09 2010 (4CB9D749)
So I guess I'll try reinstalling my driver again.  Maybe it's a problem with the 260.99 version?

So, I rollbacked my drivers, and it worked for a couple of days.  Unfortunately, I'm having problems again.

Read this: http://www.techsupportforum.com/microso … ost3053201

I now see artifacting during the BIOS screen.  Also, I lied, I got this computer in September 2008.

I had artifacting in the BIOS/POST screens and ended up in a faulty video card (9800GT).  I sent a support ticket into XFX, explained my problem, and I was able to exchange it for an HD 5670 (what they deemed 'equal' to the 9800GT).  I can't complain - in most respects it's a 9800GT with DX 11 support.

I'd suggest trying a different video card, or try and get a replacement from the manufacturer.

Try your card in a different computer if you can.

The Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (labor) which was 2 years ran out, but I still have the Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (parts) which is for 3 years.  What does that mean?  I'm going to call Gigabyte tomorrow either, so I guess I'll have to see.

I mentioned this in the link I posted above, but this was the first PCIE computer I bought, so I don't have any graphics cards I can plug into my computer, and I can't plug my graphics card into another computer.
