oh winston shut the fuck up for once in your silly little life about movie rip quality
seems to be all you talk about
it's like me harassing people in every single thread remotely related to music for not listening to exactly what i listen to
life is about more than your fucking media player
people can listen to or watch what they want, where have i ever said they should listen to exactly/only what i listen to? more often than not i get annoyed when people just copy my playlists from last.fm verbatim... but oh, weren't you asking for recommendations a few weeks ago, on the exact same point? okay then. i don't even have to say anything. you just invalidated yourself.
media player threads always end up this way... wah wah mine is better than yours! mine is higher quality! mine is more stable! who gives a fuck? if something works for you and serves your user-purposes, day-to-day, then it's clearly a decent enough media player. i use itunes. super quick integration to 64-bit OSX, and the most efficient massive-library browser that i can think of. suited to my needs. do i care if the audio/video codecs arent the best for top-quality playback? no.

how about any music related thread where you rant and ostracize anyone listening to music that you think is inferior to yours?Uzique wrote:

and yeah, i asked you to suggest some stuff, none of which i actually liked. look at my last.fm if you want, they all have 1-2 plays and havent touched them since. i can admit you have way more experience and knowledge in different types of music so asked you what would be the best. whereas in the field of video playback, i have much more experience...
also,
actually, a better comparison would be you harassing people for listening to 64kbps music instead of V0. I'm not telling people to watch uncompressed bluray images...Uzique wrote:

it's a 'what media player do you use?' thread not a 'belittle other people because they don't know/care as much about video playback' discussion

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
my whole point is that nobody is asking for you to harass them based on what music they play either, you dappy cunt.
im suggesting people use a better video player in much the same way you suggest that some peoples music is shit.

i bet both of you get laid so much more because you watch downloaded movies with your girl-friends in HIGHER QUALITY!
if someone finds 64kbps listenable... then sure... let them do that. it's not, though, is it? so your analogy is absurd.
a 700Mb DVD-Rip is fine for most people. watching DVD's, pre-bluray/HD, i never thought 'this is just awful, i can't even see what's happening!'
whereas < 128kbps audio is noticeably affected.
not that it matters at all in a MEDIA PLAYER thread

iTunes for music. Never liked WinAmp...though I did use when I was running on Windows 95, which iTunes didn't support.
VLC for video files.
VLC for video files.

you have faster internet and higher (if any) caps than me. why wouldnt you go for at least 720p over lower than dvd quality? i get all movies in 1080p and all shows in 720p with shitty speeds and a 95GB cap...FloppY_ wrote:

MediaMonkey, because it's a perfect fit for my device and what I would like to do. If i still had a compatible device it would be iTunes. No doubt.

I don't like iTunes because it adds so many extra programs and services. Not because I don't have enough RAM but because I don't want extra intrusion from Apple with their services. It is a neat and organised player though.Kmar wrote:

bonjour just pisses me off.
You can turn it off now? Last time I tried that iTunes had a bitch.
